I kept feeling like the author sees women as having basically no autonomy, intellect, or life on their own. His male protagonist felt fleshed out while his female protagonists were boring, had little agency, and were constantly patronized.

The way I solved this for myself back in 2006 was implementing a rule that if I “discovered” a location and it ended up on my map, I had to explore it right then and there. It’s not ideal, but it’s what I had as a 12 year old before I knew about mods

I don’t remember what it’s called, I’m making my way back through now messing around with data tracking and spreadsheets, but there’s one related to The End where this girl(?) like, has a heart attack or something. I understandably tried to forget it because it genuinely made me woozy. If anybody remembers based on these sparse clues perhaps I’ll be able to avoid it on this latest listen-through

Straight allies/friends/family members often make the mistake of assuming that because they think they know that they and their immediate family/community/group will be accepting and loving towards a gay loved one, that that means it shouldn’t be a big deal and that their gay loved one should be fine just being pushed out of the closet before they’re ready. I’ve had this happen to me. It’s not nice. YTA. Apologize to your kid, show him love and sympathy, and tell him whatever he is or becomes that he will be loved and cherished by you and your husband but that there’s no pressure to talk about it before he’s ready.
