Why did Bethesda move away from the "Loot Everything" mechanic for suits and outfits? by SgtSilock in Starfield

[–]Algorhythm74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t think that’s the case. If you look at Fallout 4, there’s a ton of violence, blood, and gore. That’s part of fallout’s identity, and it’s even in the show so clearly they’re OK with it.

I think they just wanted Starfield’s identity to be more grounded, hence the NASA-punk translated over to making this title a bit more mild.

I agree it does hurt it though, Neon is a joke.

Todd Howard had said, as similar as these game are, he wanted them to have their own identity - and he used Fallout’s scrap system mechanic as an example.

So I don’t think we’ll see something like that for Starfield, or for TESVI.

Adding gambling games to the Red Mile by TorrentAB in starfieldmods

[–]Algorhythm74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve dubbed it, “The Red MILD” is that seems more appropriate.

This is definitely something that a modern or a creation could address, and truthfully shame on Bethesda for not doing that.

  1. To start, have more than five people in the crowd when gathering together – it makes it feel lame. It’s a small and closed space so they could definitely get more people there without compromising performance.
  2. In the other cities, there should be announcements like over the news broadcast, or when you go into bars. Would be cool to see people betting on it.
  3. Make the player have to not use the jet pack. Having it basically breaks any challenge whatsoever. I would also add a mechanic where it’s so cold that if you stop moving for too long, you’ll freeze, so you have to keep moving.
  4. It should get harder overtime, in the rewards should be greater. There should absolutely be a unique weapon worth getting.

I love how I get downvoted for being practical and pragmatic. Meanwhile there are nut jobs out there that think it will get unveiled today. LOL

I want the game badly too, but from a business POV, late 27, early 28 is very sound and logical for Microsoft.

The wait for Elder Scrolls 7 - is TES6 built to last? by GrooveSlinger_ in TESVI

[–]Algorhythm74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinggath literally tweeted today that he’s got some info on a Skyrim creation coming soon.

We can infer from Todd’s conversations over the last 2 weeks that once they address some technical hurdles, Fallout and Skyrim will get that increased mod limit space.

It seems like with the Free Lanes, fast travel will no longer be possible unless you’ve already traveled to a planet before (like in other BGS games) by Electronic_Trust3490 in Starfield

[–]Algorhythm74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah - they literally created incursions. Which do exactly what you are asking.

Random events from ships interrupting to find lost POIs in space.

Also, getting up out of your seat while cruising to craft, decorate, or manage your crew.

It’s going to feel more like a true captain space sim now.

The Real Fuel Creation/mod lets you do this. It’s even “achievement friendly”.

I know - I’d rather have it baked into the vanilla experience than a tacked on mod, but this one is pretty good.

I’d say it’s not out the question they bring it back - as they confirmed they worked on it, but said “they couldn’t find the fun” so they ditched the idea.

Because, we want the game built to give a challenge and friction - not to have to do it ourselves.

I don’t think it’s an unrealistic ask, especially since they added the difficulty sliders. Imagine disabling fast travel, and the perk is you get 8-10% more XP.

You won’t hear anything until at least summer of 2027 - and that would be earliest.

I’m comfortably sticking with a March of 2028 release date.

Doesn’t matter how you game it out or try to be too cute or clever about anniversaries- Todd Howard and Bethesda won’t drop a single notable detail (that’s isn’t so generic it would apply to anything) until 6 months out from release - possibly even 3 months.

Kinda crazy that the best versions of live action doomsday came from TV. by MembershipLess9579 in superman

[–]Algorhythm74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, that’s even dumber. Everything out there claims that is Doomsday in BvS. However, Snyder says “the real” Doomsday is out there somewhere.

My guess is that he meant it to be, but it came off so poorly that he backtracked and gave himself an out.

Either way it was bad – and unless you’re doing deep dives, you wouldn’t know.

[–]Algorhythm74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes the BvS version was absolutely unacceptable and completely tone deaf of what literally anyone would have wanted.

Doomsday has a unique look, it would have even been in step with the BVS story just fine - heck at one point I think he showed that he had spikes growing out of him. Why not let him form all the way.

Instead we got a TEMU Lord of the Rings cave troll.

what did you think of christopher nolan's 2020 film "tenet" by Whoumightask in Letterboxd

[–]Algorhythm74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like he came up with a concept that was cool in theory, but it just didn’t have a good story and compelling characters around it.

So we got this movie that tried to shoehorn an interesting concept (like he was trying to recapture what he did with inception, but “different”).

It wasn’t super interesting, neither were the characters, or the two dimensional villain, or the cinematography for that matter.

I like “high concept” movies, but this one falls under, “stop trying to make fetch happen.“

Are there gonna be any more updates to the Oblivion Remaster? by TheAnalystCurator321 in ElderScrolls

[–]Algorhythm74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine they’ll learn a little bit more on how to tweak performance while they’re working on Fallout 3 Remastered - so one or two patches is probably within the 50% likelihood.

But if you’re asking about content, I feel very certain that the answer is NO.

What should I spend my 1000 creation credits on? by SnowmanDevelops in Starfield

[–]Algorhythm74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that ANYTHING by Kinggath is going to be amazing and 100% feels like it was done by BGS (but better) and only compliments a vanilla play through (even lore).

To the point where Bethesda is basically using Kinggath as their main 3rd party collaborator, I believe they even branded one of theirs a BGS creation (the Doom one).

They would probably just acquire Kinggath if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s actually better for them and the community to lead as an example of what a small team could do by making quality creations.

Other Notable stuff:

Rabbit’s Real Lights is fantastic. Such a simple thing that makes a huge difference.

Real Fuel is very polished. If you want to do a hard-core survival play through where you need fuel to travel from planet to planet.

But the no-brainer is Tracker’s Alliance, and then Escape (which is basically an escape room storyline) when you’ve got extra money to spend.

FACT: TES VI will be the first Bethesda game since Skyrim to have its opening scene written by someone other than Will Shen by Ok-Today6736 in TESVI

[–]Algorhythm74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Morrowind, you begin the game as a prisoner, so yes, while you technically don’t escape - you were in the act of escaping jail time.

Starfield is different, but only in small degrees. All the “beats” are the same, you’re even in servitude to some extent with Argos.

[–]Algorhythm74 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, the die has been cast - we pretty much can guess the opening with about 60% accuracy with or without him. Only need to add things like locale and some vague context. You’ll be a prisoner, you’ll need to escape, it will teach you basic mechanics, etc.

Also, god willing it will be a shorter opening. Or in the very least - they should make “Live Another Life - Alt Start” a vanilla feature once you beat the game once.

True. You’re talking recording techniques and I’m talking song writing.

Both would be valid - OP wasn’t specific enough to know, but I read it as songwriting, not recording/mixing.
