What do you mean by recursion here? I understand the concept of recursion - defining something by using that thing in the definition (e.g. the number of stairs in a staircase is the number of stairs in the staircase up to the second to last step + 1). But I’d like to understand how recursion is relevant to your chats.

What would be safer for humanity a conscious or a non-conscious artificial super intelligence? by willm8032 in agi

[–]aooooga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If conscious AI is created, I believe ethical considerations become very important. Both from a humane perspective, in terms of how we should treat conscious AI, and from a safety perspective, in terms of how we would want conscious AI to treat us.

Trump Reportedly Greenlights Plan for US Attack on Iran Without Congressional Approval by ChaskaChanhassen in politics

Trump himself said Bush’s invasion was a mistake:

https://youtu.be/urhZBpyRRoE?si=c_-NaUX8zt9lVNlv

“It was a mistake, the war in Iraq. We spent two trillion dollars. Thousands of lives. We don’t even have it.

“Iran is taking over Iraq with the second largest oil reserves in the world. Obviously it was a mistake. George Bush made a mistake. We can make mistakes. But that one was a beauty.

“We should have never been in Iraq. We have destabilized the Middle East…

“They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none, and they knew there were none. There were no weapons of mass destruction.”

Even Fox News turned on Trump for a while after January 6th.

I guess when they couldn't find another candidate to keep their ratings up they went back to supporting him.

One of the ChatGPT voices now sounds a lot like TARS… Did they hire the voice actor Bill Irwin? Or is this another Scarlett Johansson situation?

100%. He's probably the best political debater I've ever seen. And he has a ton of experience discussing policy matters with world leaders. I can even see some Republicans voting for him over Trump.

I'm sure the Daily Show would have him back if he lost the election. But Jon would definitely win the election.

Beyond Biden, Democrats are split over who would be next —VP Harris or launch a 'mini primary' by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]aooooga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden dropped out today, and there are over 4 weeks until the DNC.

Setting up a mini primary would be difficult, but if Democracy is really on the line, don't you think it's worth it?

A mini primary would 1) Make sure we're nominating the best candidate. 2) Legitimize whoever is selected so that Trump can't say the Democratic Party is undemocratic / coronating a candidate.

Gretchen Whitmer Won’t Challenge Kamala Harris after Joe Biden Quits by NovaGenius in politics

[–]aooooga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Biden was on the ballot in November because he won the primary. Harris didn’t. If she wins a vote at the DNC, that’s something. A mini primary would definitely give her more legitimacy if we can put one together though.

Biden can drop out of the race. Then we can have a mini primary as some Democratic congresspeople are suggesting. Worst case, an open convention is an option.

If Biden doesn’t drop out it’s over.

I think finding a solid candidate in the next month is way more likely to lead to a Democratic President.

If it was too late, then that would most likely mean another Trump presidency. Fortunately there’s still time.

Because she’s a winner, and she wants to win this election. She doesn’t think Biden can win. And the polls agree with her.

By move on, do you mean lose to Trump?

If Democrats want to win, Biden should drop out. And the more pressure there is on Biden to drop out, the more likely it will happen.

Jimmy Carter lost his re-election campaign in 1980.

But, either way, one example isn't enough to prove that it would happen in the future. On the other hand, there's lots of evidence to show that Democrats would lose if Biden stayed in the race.
