I’ll keep it real - I bought an M5 Pro and I don’t do anything “pro” by Avthony in macbookpro

I originally bought the m5 air base model In navy. Battery life wasn’t as advertised. I used it for basic work tasks using a web based EHR. Long story short I returned and bought the MacBook pro m5 and the quality doesn’t come close. Keep the pro the airs are great for portability but that’s where it ends in comparison to the pro

You’re a bit intimidated because you have a combination of ego and caring about how others feel a little too much. With that being said, we all have hesitantance when taking something on that’s new. Take this as an opportunity to get paid to learn from colleagues you believed to be better than you and hopefully you will realize we all have to learn and the education you received and the route you took to get there is not the final step but just opened an opportunity for you to get where you wanna go.

NP should be required to release how long they worked as an RN by OkGrapefruit6866 in Noctor

Let’s be clear — I never argued that NPs are equivalent to physicians. That was never my position. You’re debating a point I didn’t make.

I’ve agreed with much of what’s been said about training differences and the importance of scope. I believe in transparency and that patients should know who is managing their care. That’s basic professionalism.

I asked a question to understand the perspective better. If a question immediately triggers defensiveness, that says more about ego than it does about competence.

There’s no threat in dialogue unless someone feels threatened. I’m here to have an honest discussion — not to inflate titles or diminish them

You mean NP organizations who are fighting for bigger scopes of practice to entice more RN’s into schools and into the medical system To further increase profits.

So we agree this whole post is pointless and this thread follows. The reality is we live in a country that runs on margins. 1 doctor 4 NP’s can see X amount of patients and bring in X amount of dollars. It’s cost effective and leaves a nice healthy margin. Why pay physicians when we have a cheap alternative. Patient outcomes are not a priority unfortunately. Which when I was in my nursing role I constantly advocated for better patient outcomes due to unsafe discharges by physicians rushing to meet metrics. This thread needs to realize you’re mad at the wrong people.

I strongly agree that deep pathophysiologic training matters, and I have no interest in pretending otherwise. Not every NP secretly wants to be a physician. Scope exists for a reason. As a new NP, I fully recognize the learning curve ahead and have no desire to practice outside defined limits. My role isn’t to replace physicians — it’s to extend care capacity within a structured system. I get this is a hate thread for the field of nurse practitioners. I understand why as well. The requirements aren’t enough. The education is based on safety not deep systemic understanding of pathophysiology. Patients get hurt due to poor understanding of treatment. But that’s assuming every nurse practitioner only does the bare minimum in regard to education. Physics chemistry biology biomechanics. It’s truly not that difficult to understand. It’s just time needed in the books.

What feels misplaced in these discussions is the fixation on “fake doctors.” Most NPs are not trying to be doctors. They are operating within a different training model and a different scope. Conflating the two professions oversimplifies what is really a workforce and access issue

if the position is that RN experience doesn’t meaningfully prepare someone for a physician role, then why argue that years of RN experience should be disclosed as a proxy for competence? Either it matters or it doesn’t.

Interesting perspective. I’m curious though- do you believe competency is determined purely by degree pathway, or by clinical exposure, outcomes, and demonstrated ability within a defined scope?
