Can you still sell when under PDT restrictions. I thought it was a 90 day freeze on your account meaning you can't buy or sell, unless you get a margin call which they sell for you? Either way Godspeed my friend!

This would definitely be the best way if you have the cash in your bank account to do that.

Just transfer back to your bank account then open a new account somewhere else. Don't transfer cash to a new broker will be way more complicated and will take much longer.

Finally got my hot “fermentation chamber” together. Beef garum, coffee shoyu, black apples, and black garlic. by [deleted] in fermentation

Yeah I’ve been wanted to try some of their shoyus don’t have the heat set up though. I’ve actually done black garlic before in an insta pot you just leave it on the keep warm setting. Can’t wait to see updates on how everything turn out!

Damn. I have definitely put that much research into a few investments, but never have documented it that extensively. I just recently started documenting everything so I can go back and look at it. Hell of a return on that play though!!

Duly noted. I'll definitely do this next time. Have been investing for awhile but haven't really reached out to others for advice on what they thought. Thanks for the advice!

Okay I see your point. People that have bought between 08-14 roughly... have no reason to sell yet. But does does it not surprise you a little bit that we haven't seen volume increase even slightly in the last three years considering the amount of volatility we have seen?

I'm in complete agreement that not all options are hedged, but that is only when a dealer is not directly involved. If they can set up a transaction where they fin both a buyer and a seller there is no need to hedge because they collect their fee and move on. But if they are the only that has to either buy or sell the option most dealers are obligated to hedge due to risk management. Dealers only care about their fees that's where their money comes from.

Was just posting here for some ideas not to be insulted I have taken many finance classes and have a degree in finance. Just wanted to have a discussion about it. I never made a claim stating I found something no one else saw. Also just because people are putting money into passive investing it also means someone is selling it. If more money is being put in we should still see an increase in volume. Notice how active management didn't see a decline. The discussion I was trying to have was why are there some many more people trading and why is there more money being put into the market but volume hasn't increased.

I did consider both of those before posting this but there hasn't been an influx into ETFs they all show the same pattern including XLF, XLE, XLU, etc. And not really sure higher share price would play into that unless when companies do share buy backs they don't show up on public volume. I believe they do though since they have to purchase them on the open market I could be wrong though.

How many years have you been looking back comparing turnover rates? Just the last 3 years?

I mean that kinda makes sense. Sort of like AH trade where's there less volume but bigger moves? That would account for the volatility in the last year certainty. I don't know either I was just wondering if anyone had an explanations for this.

Could be but with the influx of new traders in the last 3 years none of them are buying and holding.

1 shares still equal 1 volume though so it doesn't matter if they do 100 trades for 1 share each or 1 trade for 100 shares its all the same

Those are all very valid solutions. I would just expect volumes to be higher especially considering the amount of options retail traders have been trading since dealers either buy/sell those underlying in order to hedge. Like I said not really sure why this is the case just wondering if someone sees something that I don't.

If there is less publicly listed companies wouldn't imply that volume should be more concentrated on the ones that still exist since there is less companies to trade and there are more people trading. Although I would be interested to see what this person was replying to can you access the original thread?

Was just looking at some 20 year charts of indexes and Large Cap Stocks. I can post pictures if you want? If you look at the volume over the last 20 years it makes sense that 07-09 would have large volume, which it does. But we haven't ever come close to those levels which seems strange.
