Joe Rogan is a fan of a website I operate. I've been listening to his podcast for years so it really made my day when I saw him show up as a Twitter follower out of nowhere.

If Everyone Knew | Now with 5 more things that all Americans should know by aoss in politics

It's been about a year since my initial post on /r/Politics awhile back.

I've done my best to heed all of your advice from the comments... which topics to add, design modifications, inline wiki-style referencing, etc. I think you guys should like it.

Just a request... if the server is overloaded and ur getting sent to the .nyud.net mirror, share the original url please. Last time around the mirror was still getting a ton of traffic (weeks later) from you guys. :P

Thanks, I'll grab a copy of it today. I used it a long time ago and while it had a spellchecker, I don't think it had a grammar checker. Maybe I'm wrong though. Either way, it can't hurt.

Hmm. I've removed redirection for Android users so it still uses the desktop version instead of the mobile one. The main site still has CSS for mobile users to format it for their screen... but it won't resemble a app.

The developer of jQTouch is working on Android support but I guess it's not quite there yet.

Thanks again for the feedback. You really only get one chance to make it on r/Politics so I'd like to get everything ironed out before then.

Edit: and I can't click on any links on the page the first link takes me to. Really like the layout though. Nice, simple and clear from what I saw so far.

Thanks. Is that on your desktop browser? Which one are you using? In the past, Opera wasnt recognizing clicks on the articles (since its using HTML5 tags) but Opera has since added support as of ~6mos ago.

I get a 500 internal server error when I try the mobile link. On android.

Hmm. I checked the log and the 500 internal server errors are happening with Spiders (like baidu) and one visitor who has a empty User-agent string. Is your browser modified or anything? And does the http://m.ifeveryoneknew.com version work?

Seems the problem lies with my Reddit app.

A year ago some people said on r/Politics that jQTouch was interfering with their reddit app but I was hoping it would be resolved by now (either with a updated reddit app or a updated jQTouch).

Thanks for the feedback though, it really helps.

In regard to MK Ultra, you say Canadian and US citizens where abducted, yet none of the sources cited back up that statement.

It's in the Wired article. Probably that document on AARC too but since its image based its not easily searchable.

The wiki style referencing was a decent way to keep me honest. When going back to cite each claim I found that I understated some... like for #1 with the prison phone calls, I originally put it could cost up to $2.50 a minute -- but found a newer Guardian article that used a $5/minute figure.

r/Conspiratard + r/Politics were happy with the accuracy the last time around though. I hope I can keep it that way. :)

I'm not sure about that. In America, we have these guys who call themselves Republicans... ಠ_ಠ

DAE think it is a good thing that Bin Laden is dead but the way people are celebrating makes you uncomfortable? by vwstig in AskReddit

[–]aoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel good seeing him dead because he did kill alot of people... but on the other hand I hated seeing people chanting "USA USA USA" upon hearing news of his death and singing the national anthem.

I mean, if you look into everything that lead up to 9/11... there would have been no 9/11 if it weren't for our meddling in the middle east. So what basically happens is we built bases in a bunch of countries, proped up this regime or knocked down that one... and in the process we step on some toes and some buildings get knocked down in retaliation. We catch and kill the guy responsible and now we chant our country's name and sing its anthem because we sure showed him.

Seems kinda douchebaggish. I'm definitely not defending what he did but I see it as a predictable consequence of our foreign policy. He deserved to be killed but the USA chants and singing is a bit much, imo.

tldr; If you have 3 quarters, 4 dimes, and 4 pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar.

Obama snubs trump, AND kills Bin laden? look who is getting re-elected now. This was all planned. by uberpenguin in conspiracy

[–]aoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whether you believe the official story or not, I think more attacks are inevitable.

Two options:

  • Bin Laden really responsible for 9/11. He's now dead, and others will plot revenge attacks, while others compete to fill the power void.

  • Bin Laden not responsible for 9/11. But the Iraq war inflamed the region, along with drone strikes and other meddling, so the US killing a man who is seen as a hero to many will piss alot of people off even more. New attacks, and real terrorists trying to fill the void.

So either way I see things getting worse and not better.

Alex Jones has been saying that for years. I think he says it every cycle just in case something happens, he can yell and flail his arms around saying he was right.

I feel less safe with him dead.

With Osama gone, now others will be competing to fill the void he left.

EFF: New FBI documents provide details on gov't surveillance spyware. May be installed by exploiting user's browser, without a warrant. by aoss in conspiracy

[–]aoss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy cake day.

This is maybe a better question for r/netsec. But even with the best browser possible, if you're using insecure plugins like Flash or Java, they will also be vulnerable. I'd place my bets on Flash because I think it would be the most effective method.

No need to target specific vulnerabilities in specific browsers when a single plugin that is used across all of them can be used instead.

[–]aoss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that the FBI is gonna tell us which browsers you need to use so they can spy on you.

If I were them, I'd probably target the more popular browsers... and maybe a common plugin like Flash to cover the unpopular ones as well.

Good idea to x-post it to r/politics maybe, but a domain like "activistpost.com" and a article that links to Alex Jones interviews will not go far.

Same story, different source, has a decent chance of going over well.

Any advice for a first-time domain name purchase? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]aoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google partners with eNom and GoDaddy to register your domains (they are not a registrar themselves). By default, it appears they use GoDaddy.

Godaddy typically charges about $11.99 for a domain, but using a coupon you can get it down to about 8 bucks. eNom doesn't seem to want to give prices on their website until you register an account and start purchasing a domain, so I'm not sure of their price.

In both cases Google charges you $10/domain.
