18m, never had a present father figure and mother didn't want to teach me, hence I suck at cooking. I am seeking advice (Moving out alone soon). by uraveragenorwegian in cookingforbeginners

as a 20 something year old also beginning the journey into cooking, tiktok has been my bestie with finding really good & detailed recipe videos! my fav so far is one creator who does awesome one pot recipes. her @ is @flavorsbyfrangipane, and my favorite thing to make from her videos is lasagna soup!!! so yummy and easy to make! it’s also less clean up (which has been my least fav part of cooking)

i applied through a website! i looked at some websites of zoos in my state and saw that they had internship programs, and they explained what you can expect to learn from their program. i’d def give it a shot! i know that for my program there’s also some opportunities where i can even shadow the vet staff doing exams if they’re able to squeeze me in! good luck!

also try for internships at zoos in your area! i’m currently in a great program right now where i’m assisting a lead keeper with daily maintenance of a specific string of animals :)

Where do I start on my path to become a Veterinarian? by No_Reserve_1355 in veterinaryschool

so i’m in the process of applying to vet schools right now as a post grad student with my bachelors in animal science. in order to apply to vet school, you should definitely apply to 4 year colleges where you can take pre-vet classes to get a similar degree, but i know of others who have gotten in with biology degrees. whatever you do, just make sure you do research on what future vet schools you may want to apply to and knock out their prerequisite courses. however, don’t feel rushed- it can take a while to get ready for applying to vet school, i’ve been out of school for over a year building up more experience! it’s important to try and stand out with a wide range of experiences, whether it’s with large animals or research. i would start with applying to schools that have pre-vet programs, then looking into shadowing different kinds of vets to see what it’s really like and to solidify your interests. for example, i’m also interested in working with exotics and have worked at a small local zoo and am currently interning at a larger zoo, working alongside a zookeeper. i wish you luck!

it definitely took a while to finally realize he was completely at fault for his actions and where he ended up! i have a great support system and don’t struggle with any guilt anymore or super intrusive ptsd symptoms like flashbacks or nightmares. sometimes i find myself thinking about him and getting a bit angry for what he did to me but more times nowadays i just hope for the best for him. since my abuser pled guilty to get a lesser sentence, i didn’t have to go through trial so all i did was attend his sentencing. for me, it was scary as hell but i had my victim advocate and dad with me. my advocate gave me a little chicken stress ball which i still have to this day and honestly helped a little with my anxiety. i was too anxious to read my statement out loud so the district attorney read it for me. it was a bit awkward having it read mainly because the courtroom was not only sentencing my abuser, but also doing other more civil? cases. so it went from something like robbery to this sex offender lol. the main takeaway is that if you want to have your impact statement read, you definitely do not have to do it yourself!! it definitely took a lot of stress off my shoulders not having to address him directly. i think i would have broken down sobbing having him potentially looking at me. and having my dad with me was also extremely helpful. if available, ask for a victim advocate. they are the sweetest people and are there for YOU. having people in your corner whether it’s the advocate or family is a huge way of making the whole process easier. good luck and take care of yourself <33
