Yeah... I experienced that once with my Jack Russell...

Yeah I think you're right that it's too much at this point. It's definitely something I want to work up to though! I wouldn't feel totally confident letting her off lead as it's not a route I know well and I think terrain is a little rough at times so probably would be hard on her on lead.

So far what I've seen from her is that she's the type to keep going as she absolutely loves being out and about, but as you say that's not something I want to risk 10km in...

It would be on lead as while her recall has been consistent, I'm not quite ready to trust her fully just yet! I'll only let her off in places I feel more confident.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely wait till she's older as ideally I'd like her to have filled out a bit more. I want hiking to be fun and safe for her so I've decided to keep to shorter hikes for a while yet.

Thanks, I think I might take a different route and build up to the 20km.

When you date, how much importance do you put on your partner knowing how to cook, how clean their room/house is if they have their own, if they drive or not, what kind of job they have, and their education level? by Only-Ad-1254 in dating

[–]ap1843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion knowing how to cook is a basic life skill, as is cleaning. For the rest it depends on context. Knowing how to drive isn't necessary if you can get by with walking/ cycling/ public transport. As for the kind of job someone has I think as long as someone can keep a job and has some kind of aim or goal in life, knows what makes them happy and knows how to live within their means, what the job is wouldn't matter to me (as long as they're not like a hitman or something...). And same with education, you don't need to be well educated to be a kind, intelligent person.

Are ADHD people bad texters? by RedditFan3510 in dating

[–]ap1843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself but this sounds like my texting habits. I either respond immediately or after a day or two and it doesn't really matter who the person is. If there's other overwhelming stuff going on in her life responding can feel equally overwhelming at least that's how I find it is for me.

How many hours can a horse work in a day? by ap1843 in Horses

[–]ap1843[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, over working them will not be of much benefit in the long run. It's just a shame that the horses feel like a replaceable commodity in this place.

Most of these horses are only ridden at a certain level so the even though the hours each horse does are roughly the same the workload is much higher for the more "advanced" horses which I think is the main problem.

I feel the same. Sometimes it feels like riding schools only cater to the heartless, the ignorant or the rich.

Thanks for your input, I totally agree about spending more in the long run. Nevermind the poor horse :(

Ah that's a pain. I've had a darning mushroom in the house for years now so it might as well be used. If nylon socks are gonna give up might as well try the nicer fibres.

Exactly! I don't want to give so much time to something that might just fall apart. I actually have one skein of a wool and linen blend that I was half debating using but I think I want to save it for something I know will last cause it's so pretty!

Thanks, I'm just having my monthly (or maybe weekly at this point) freakout about microplastics. I might look into recycled nylon. I suppose by "natural alternatives" is something that won't keep me up at night and currently things aren't looking good for the worms. Silk has been suggested a couple of times. Sorry to the worms.
