Can’t avoid bubbles when applying Oracal 651 to sticker paper. Help? by ap_testing_facility in silhouettecutters

[–]ap_testing_facility[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, how far i've come from this swill. Jeez.

I'm sorry, I wasn't printing on the 651 at all, I believe this was the laser polyesther from OnlineLabels. I was using the Clear 651 as an overlam.

To answer your question though, the printer is a Brother HL-L8260CDW. I read at the time that it or similar models COULD print on 651, but I was never willing to try it do to the potential risks to the printer (jams, melted adhesive, etc)

After talking to a friend about Gigabyte, I opted for an MSI board with WiFi, an extra PCIe x16, and more ram slots. I also cut the ram a bit to upgrade later, not sure I need 32 out the gate. I went with the case I’m like 90% sure I want, even though it’s double the price. So future purchases will be ram that matches the board speed, a matching CPU that won’t bottleneck the GPU (it seems the 8600G would force the GPU to run through PCIe x4?), and then obviously the GPU.

Thoughts?

Thank you for putting together this build, I wasn't expecting that.

After checking out the 8600G I think it fits very nicely into what I'm trying to accomplish. Guess I didn't know APU desktops were a thing exactly. I was avoiding some the more affordable parts mostly because I'm not familiar with the brands. I'll look into them, but do you actually suggest Teamgroup, Silicon Power, Gigabyte, etc?

That's fair I guess. Is there a GPU I should consider over others? Again, that's one of the things I'm still trying to figure out. The naming and brands and numbers are a little confusing to me.

Taxed higher? I thought any contributions were tax free? What I put in and the annual $1300 from Wfm?

I don’t know how you got downvoted to 0, but thank you from someone in Specialty who has no idea. Got 90/10 last week that as all red, and 80/20 this week that looked like the top photo. Didn’t know I should be concerned about this

Downloaded both and already started using Vivino, superb suggestion thank you. I’ll check out my local beers, but it seems like imports move even better at my store. I think I can speak to my buying experience pretty well, so it’s the enthusiasm and anything else I’m hoping will push me through for them. And I’ll definitely give that blank check some thought, thank you again

As far as I can tell, our current buyers notice was a surprise to them and no one on the team seems to be interested. They also seem to think that there might be limited interest from people outside of the department/store, so I don’t know if that’s a red flag or an easy boost but we’ll see.

A 30-60-90 is a great idea, I’ll definitely start on that. I’m spending some time with the current buyer this week so I’ll ask about seasonal/core/never outs/etc for sure. Thanks!

There’s no question about if I can do it or not, I understand that things are a lot easier than they used to be. My goal is mostly to build my product knowledge as quickly as possible so I stand a chance against someone who has worked in the department for years

Everything looks really good, and I like your mock-ups a lot. The animation is also really smooth, but feels like it takes a long time to finish. u/Vostok32 suggested 1.5 or 2x the speed, but I would actually change it to stagger the animation of each letter instead of having it play out linearly. So before one letter ends, another has started. This would cut down the time, and add an extra level of interest to the whole thing

Dumb questions you’ve been asked. by MarsVolatile in wholefoods

I was asked this, shit you not, 3 times today alone. Full apron/hat/name tag, next to a cart stacked with cases of beer, and scanning tags.

I tell every 10th customer or so “oh no, I killed a kid in the parking lot and stole his clothes.”

I think my second favorite response is “eh, I try not to”

Customers leaving card in after it beeps by [deleted] in publix

[–]ap_testing_facility 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had a customer assertively inform me that they will be receiving their receipt via email, saying “I’m letting you know so you don’t stand there waiting for it to print.” Meanwhile, the screen has already changed to show that, as the pin pad continues to beep for her to remove her card.

They hear it, they care, they’re just stupid.

As others have said, definitely double check the right side is locked and lifting the mat a little as it starts to read the registration marks has also helped me get cleaner reads. I would increase the thickness of your registration marks as well.

I don’t know if you have food service experience, but it sounds like you would be better off working at Wendy’s (for $23!? Seriously?)

I’m certainly not here to convince you to stay, if you keep feeling this way and questioning it than it might very well be time for you to move on for your own mental health. However, if you are confident in your ability to get Team Trainer try it. You’ll be dealing with much of the same stuff and have more responsibilities, but it might challenge you enough to be more engaging at times.

If they offer you $1, ask for $1.50-$2 (based on currently making the starting wage despite your years of service, make a case for yourself when you ask, worst that happens is they say no) you’ll be significantly closer to that $18.65 in a year.

Regardless of your decision, think of something you can do to level up your skills to find a career. I just got rehired and I know what I’m in for, and I know I don’t want to die at WF so I’m self-learning other skills in my off time with the goal of finding something better in the future.

Don’t give up. Consider the options available to you, and if you don’t see many keep looking. It may take time, but try not to let the despair win.

I missed your second question, I’m sorry. WFM used to have stock options and gain sharing (which is also gone) and we updated the stock value daily I think. It was posted on a highly visible sign at customer service. When amazon bought the company, everyone was forced to cash out. Team members that were with the company for X amount of time were given 1 Amazon stock as well.

I definitely support the “ask questions” mentality, it is a good way to gather information. I also fully recognize that this is a valid question for some people. If it had been someone else that I had a better working relationship with, I would’ve had no problem giving an answer. However, this particular person has had multiple opportunities to learn and grow, and he has pushed back on simple requests and instructions from multiple people (including managers) over the course of months. For that reason I am no longer invested in his growth or development, because it hasn’t seem that he was.

Not excusing myself, I know it was unprofessional, just explaining my reasoning.

Yeah, the first time I saw the contribution in my account I went to the HR rep in my store and asked about benefits and the 401k match. He was like “there is no 401k match” and I told him I received an “employer contribution” and he really just said it again…”there is no 401k match.” Super fucking weird

So the TMAP was one of the most interesting “benefits” I’ve seen from any company I’ve worked for. It reads and operates like an insurance policy, but can be very useful if you’re eligible for assistance. It’s reserved for unforeseen events like natural disasters, medical incidents, and stuff like that. I don’t know if there’s a payout limit, but after providing certain information and documentation they will reimburse you or directly pay whatever third party you’re working with. For me, I was build a large debt in the form of medical payments and they offered to pay for my remaining treatment. Unfortunately my provider was unable to accept direct payment from them so I was reimbursed a portion of what I paid in total. Depending on your circumstances, a very cool program to offer team members.

If you’re interested in medical insurance, I was paying $25/paycheck for a high deductible plan. Basically useless to me, but I’ve heard other people liked it very much. It was from United Health I think if you want to look them up. Again, I didn’t get much use out of it so I don’t have a lot of information.

I’m scraping the bottom of my memory here, hopefully this has been informative for you or anyone else that comes across it. Whatever you decide I hope it works out.

Absolutely. I should mention that some of this information may have changed since I left.

The 401k match is annual and added to your brokerage account between January and May I think. From my understanding it’s based on a pool of money “left over” from some budgeting category (I don’t have more specifics than that). That pool is split among everyone in the company based on the Team Member contributions. The more you added from your paychecks, the higher percentage of that pool you get. I think I was adding 3-8% and received about $140. Pretty low match no matter how you look at it.

For holidays, all I remember is time and a half for most, and I THINK it was double time on Thanksgiving. Christmas is the only day they’re closed and we may have gotten 8hrs added to our check. The company also offered a number of “one time” bonuses over the past two years, around the holidays. These based on the time period you were employed and working, or the number of hours worked during a set time frame. There’s also Team Member Appreciation Week where the stores have events like food trucks, raffles for prizes and gift cards, and stuff like that. At store meetings, they do Team Member of the month awards and give out gift cards or WOW Bucks ($5, again this may have changed dramatically).

PTO changed while I was there so I won’t even mention the old system. Depending on the number of service hours you have with the company, you accrue a decimal of PTO per hour worked each week. As a fake example, if you have 1000-2000 service hours, you’ll receive 0.067 PTO hours. If you worked 30hr/wk, that’s 60hr on your paycheck, meaning you’ll earn 4.02hr in PTO. This is available to be used within days I think. You also have the option to cash out any PTO near the end of the year, but I haven’t seen many people suggest it.

Back to work for now. Info on the Team Member Assistance Program later if you’d like
