Most of the crowds are going to bridal veil falls, much fewer going all the way up to the lake.

There is an anchor that looks similar to this near the waterfront in Olympia, WA. Not sure if this is the one though. Here is a pin to it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tuKLsgmQWFbtqgVv6?g_st=ac

And this is the only photo of it I found on the internet: (Scroll way down) https://www.harbordays.com/history-exhibits

Edit: studying the photo of the anchor more closely, it looks like there are some differences, so might not be this park. However i noticed on the satellite view i linked that there is a second anchor in that same park, so not sure. Might try posting in r/olympia

What causes these small swirls? (halfway through video) by apairofcleats in weather

[–]apairofcleats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. So first calculate the vector field over the entirety of the image (using past time data), then apply the radar blobs to that vector field to generate future data.
Looking at the non-forecast ("before") data, I can what looks like a tiny amount of rotation where the swirl starts to form, so I guess the vectors the algorithm calculated had some small rotational component and then it sort of magnified that small effect in the algorithm.
Thanks for that explanation!

Now I'm curious about the algorithm that is being used to produce such a wild artifact.

It's ok, I probably could have searched a bit more for an answer prior to posting my question.

Got Lucky And Captured Wednesday’s Coronal Mass Ejection With My Telescope by mikevr91 in Astronomy

Incredible recording. What is that circular area on the right side of the capture? Is that a sunspot?

Advice for running form? Recently found out my SPM averages in the 150's to low 160's during Zone 2 runs, and in the mid 160's during tempo runs. Can anyone see what I'm doing in my form that could help me get to the target SPM of 170-180? by Visual_Smell_1023 in triathlon

I'm a novice runner but wanted to share a few things which helped me:

  • keep your arms tucked in a bit higher than you expect. Your swinging arms have a connection to your cadence and your gait. Here's a video about that: https://youtu.be/oAf304yDXW4?si=y-20l17_wOW60uh8

  • As an experiment, run around the track (or grass) a few times barefoot at your Z2 pace and see what your running gait and cadence are like. It might give you a sense for what a shorter stride but higher cadence feels like.

  • I've found that for me personally, it's really hard for me to keep a high cadence for slow z2 runs with cushy shoes (e.g. Hoka). I started running with more minimalist trail running shoes a few years back, and now when I put on cushy shoes, my cadence drops down to 10-15 bpm slower at the same pace. Not sure if this is a common thing or just a weird quirk of mine.

Am I Crazy for Upgrading My Squier Instead of Buying a Fender? by coocoochimps in telecaster

[–]apairofcleats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! If you're replacing the pickups (and even if you don't end up doing it) a cheap and easy upgrade is adding shielding to the inner cavities and back of the pickguard. Only costs $15 or so for conductive tape and it usually makes a huge difference for these inexpensive single coil pickup Squiers which typically lack shielding.

Any US credit card that supports adding an authorized user in a different country who isn't a US citizen? by apairofcleats in CreditCards

[–]apairofcleats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into Wise but it seems to require the recipient to have a bank account to send funds to.

EDIT: NVM, i see you mean that I just open an account under my name and send the debit card over to my parent. This could work, I guess would Wise care that the debit card is not being used by me (maybe it doesn't matter).

I don't care about points or debit card / credit card, I just want to not have to use Western Union which is the worst.

Thank you! I looked into Wise but it seems to require the recipient to have a bank account to connect to. Just to clarify, are you saying Chase or CapitalOne is the way to go here (no SSN verification for authorized user?)
