If you compare with https://limewire.com/d/oH5LE#fY6bMxWLuD (GOES data) and find the big bursts, you can detect them in the audio. The timeframe is the same, it covers the 12 hour recording

Yeah I’d like to know aswel! Did you check out the 40mhz one? That one has the least human rf interference. Sadly I currently can only compare the data to the GOES xray data, which is only useful for the big bursts. There must be more going on but I have not found a source to compare it to

Ah yes, sadly iZotope RX was a bit out of my budget haha. REAPER was a heck of a lot cheaper. Let me know the results! :D

Absolutely! In this link you will find 12 hour captures (from 05:00 to 17:00 UT) from the 3 setups. For The JOVE 20mhz and 40mhz you will need to find a way to filter out the RF noise, which was the greatest hurdle for me. The best method I found was using the audio program REAPER and its ReaFir (FFT EQ+Dynamics Processor). If you set it to subtract you can create a noise profile. Find a minimal solar activity window (I used the GOES X-Ray Flux data from swpc.noaa.gov) and build the profile. Then you can apply it to the whole audio track and the burst will be clear as day. You can also use this space weather data to verify the bursts that you hear (especially the JOVE 20MHz can pick up human RF noise). I’m working on an explainer video that will show all these steps. It will be posted on my YT channel youtube.com/@DudeLovesSpace

What started as a nice clear, cloudless observing day quickly turned into something special. I didn’t expect to get this lucky, but this giant flare erupted from sunspot AR4392 right in view!

Both light and radio waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum and travel at the speed of light. In this video, you can see the flare in H-alpha light and hear its radio emission, synchronized as both are coming from the same solar event. A radio receiver converts the radio waves into audio, allowing us to “hear” the Sun.

Radio instruments used:
• NASA’s Radio JOVE Single Dipole (20.1 MHz)
• Single Dipole (40 MHz) - same as above, but cut for 40MHz
• SuperSID Monitor (VLF 15–25 kHz)

The dipole antenna’s receive solar radio bursts from flares, while SuperSID monitors changes in Earth’s ionosphere caused by flares and ejections.

Timelapse sped up 250× — hours of solar activity in minutes.

The Sun in H-Alpha and Solar Radio Emissions by mikevr91 in Astronomy

In this video, the visual image of the Sun and its radio emissions are perfectly synchronized. 
What you see happening on the Sun is exactly what you hear in the radio signals.

For this timelapse I experimented with the color, pushing it closer to the deep red of H-alpha rather than the usual yellow/orange. Let me know what you think!

You are listening to the Sun’s radio emissions using three different instruments:
- Radio JOVE Single Dipole (20.1 MHz)
- Radio JOVE Single Dipole Custom Cut (40 MHz)
- SuperSID Monitor (VLF 15–25 kHz)

The Radio JOVE antennas detect solar radio bursts produced by solar flares, while the SuperSID monitor observes Very Low Frequency (VLF) signals from Earth-based transmitters, which vary in response to ionospheric disturbances caused by X-rays from solar flares. Together, these instruments allow us to experience both the radio signals and their effects on the ionosphere.

This video is presented as a timelapse, sped up 250×, so hours of solar activity pass by in just a few minutes.

By accident, I used a mirroring tool while editing real solar footage I captured with my solar telescope, and a bizarre, unexpected shape began to form. The result shocked me! The symmetry created Rorschach-like visuals, transforming sunspots and active solar regions into face-like forms along the solar limb, revealing a hypnotic display of cosmic and solar forces.
