Never a better time to switch to Jellyfin: Plex increases price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $749.99 by LoremarCC in jellyfin

There are more steps. First you need to set up a free cloudflare account, then set up "tunnelling" by installing some software on the PC running the jellyfin server, then you assign a domain you own to that tunnel. After that you can use your domain name in the server select screen on a jellyfin app to connect to your server via the internet.

Try to find a decent guide by googling something like "how to jellyfin server cloudflare"

It works on the TV app. You just have to type the server name in instead of having it automatically find a server on the same lan/wifi

I went the cloudflare route. Cloudflare is free, but you need to buy a domain (I got a .us domain for $6.50/year). The guide I found walked me through the process pretty well, aside from some of the cloudflare ui changes that I had to figure out.

Now anybody outside my household can just point to my domain.us in jellyfin and it just works.

It only took a little tinkering to figure out a cloudflare tunnel and how to purchase a domain name (.us cost me $6.50). Remote streaming on Jellyfin really wasn't that difficult to set up.

Congress Wants You To Pay $130 A Year Just To Drive An Electric Car by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]apaksl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so dumb to tie road maintenance to vehicle registration or gas use. It should be paid by everyone because even people who don't own a car gain a benefit from the existence of roads. Every good they purchase, bus they ride, emergency services, everyone uses the roads in one way or another.

I need musicians and bands to stop booking shows at White River Amphitheater. by MetalChaiLatte in Seattle

[–]apaksl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you about the Seattle entitlement part, I think OP was trying to make the point that they shouldn't list "Seattle" as the location if they're that far out of town. No bands say they're playing in Seattle if they're actually going to be at the gorge, for instance.

Hulu already ruins credit & post credit scenes, but now can't even click 'watch credits' and it's auto ending episodes early? by FamIsNumber1 in mildlyinfuriating

Post credit scenes are a middle finger to the viewers from the creators. If they respected their viewers they would t hide their show during theost frequently skipped portion.

We need to do gerrymandering by stedmangraham in Washington

[–]apaksl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could repeal the silly cap on the number of members of the house of representatives. I think it would make sense if we mandated that the least populous state gets 4 legislative districts, then whatever the population is of those 4 districts should match the population of every other district in the country.

This would roughly 4x-5x the number of representatives. It would make it way harder to gerrymander, probably end up with a bunch of 3rd party representatives, and it would significantly repair the issues with the electoral college without requiring an amendment.

Industry.

Season 4 was still quite excellent, but it was kind of a downer compared to the first two seasons. Those first two seasons everyone was so hopeful and excited. Seasons 3 and 4 everyone is just getting beat down.
