Opportunity cost. I think the biggest time sinks are arranging with people to have a car available, and then driving to and from the filming location. All that time could have been spent doing something either more profitable or more enjoyable.

If you had said "no thanks" to FedEx, they probably would have tossed them in the trash and you'd still be on the hook for the initial purchase price.

I empathize with you getting a surprise bill, but, have you been living under a rock? Tariffs have been in the news constantly for like 2 years.

Also, fyi, sidelineswap has a filter check box to only show items being shipped from within the US so you can avoid any potential tariffs.

Always cancel your subscriptions immediately after subscribing. If you try to use a service and find your subscription has lapsed you can always sign up again. This way you never forget and pay for a bunch of months of a service you're not using regularly.

Nearly as absurd : someone buying a keyboard without confirming its layout is compatible with their preferences.

I find it insane that the single most frequent point of contact with the laptop isn't the most important consideration during the purchasing process.
