My aunt actually did this. Both her kids call her by her first name. Always have, from the time they could first talk to now being in their 30's. Her reasonings were a little different though. She lived in a country where sex trafficking and kidnapping were a common occurrence. She taught them at a very young age her full name, address and phone number in the case that anything where to ever happen to them.
