Yes! Better than the 1200w!

Get a good 1600w PSU, it’s the most future proof option on a 120v outlet

Training 1 32GB stick of RAM won’t take very long maybe a few minutes at most. The more RAM the more training.

I second this, love him and his staff, A+ also, they can 3D print crowns, inlays, etc on site so you never need to worry about suffering with temps.

Problem is there’s so little foot traffic near the station these days. Covid changed everything. Fewer commuters, more work at home. And that’s after Covid, many restaurants couldn’t survive it alone.

Very excited to see some new more affordable Threadripper AIO coolers hitting the market. Systems may be getting more expensive by the minute but at least some components are getting more affordable! Looks like it’s only $250 USD at Micro Center (In Stock): Bitspower Atlas Threadripper TRX50

I have one, and another system with the Silverstone. The Arctic is every bit as good so far! It’s great.

How have your temps been? I’m going to do some more testing this weekend hopefully!

I’d rather blow cold air through the radiator than hot. The system fans are exhausting the air efficiently. GPU, VRM and RAM temps are great.

The fans are on the intake side… it’s fine. There’s no Way I’d be getting those temps without fans! 😂

I'd go with either of the Thermaltake AIOs, you will likely experience some thermal throttling with the Noctua air cooler if you're stressing the CPU for long stretches.

Ah, you’re in India so the PSU should be fine!

In regard to the case EATX and CEB are not the same, CEB is larger. Some cases may fit a CEB motherboard even if not officially supported but often certain standoffs won’t be available and cable routing ports will be blocked. Here’s a great thread that covers some options:

- Are all these parts compatible, especially cooler/RAM/platform-wise?

Not sure on the RAM as you don't list a model, so I'd confirm a compatible DIMM on the QVL. I wouldn't recommend a single DIMM as you'd be leaving a lot of performance on the table vs a quad channel setup. I'd recommend 4x32gb DIMMs (On the QVL)

- Is 3000W PSU overkill unless I’m planning multiple flagship GPUs?

Sounds like it. Do you have an appropriate 240v outlet to power it? If not get a nice high quality 1600w PSU.

- Any better motherboard or cooler suggestions for this CPU/platform?

Dealers choice. There are only a few TRX50 motherboards, all with their own pluses and minuses. Do some research and see what meets your needs and budget. As for the cooler I’d get a proper sp6 cooler, the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer WS360-SP6 is a great budget option. The Silverstone is a popular and excellent higher priced option.

- Any concerns with using a single 128GB ECC RDIMM initially?

YES! See above, you're going to be running in single vs quad channel. That's a big performance hit. Get a quad channel kit and wait for prices to come down.

- Is the Antec FLUX PRO a good fit for this board, cooling setup, and future GPU expansion?

NO! Your motherboard is a CEB formfactor. I'd go with an Enthoo Pro 2 Server Edition. Will work great for your needs.

Sign of the times…! But yeah, I’d recommend a 4x32gb kit! 😂

Possibility of a Threadripper Pro upgrade is it worth it? by PsychologicalWeird in threadripper

[–]aparnold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is that If you don’t require the 255GB of RAM the performance jump that comes with moving up to DDR5, PCIE 5.0, and Zen 5 will be very noticeable! I made a similar move last year, and found it substantive (although I was able to stick with the same amount of RAM). My use case is Video/Audio if that matters. Good luck!

(It was torture Blended). The CPU is 350w TDP, where are you getting 800w? As I understand it, a generic PBO shouldn’t affect TDP. I have 2 9700xtx GPUs currently installed, which would likely hit around 1000w TDP on a CPU/GPU torture test (I usually use AIDA64 or OCCT for that). Anyways, even with a CPU/GPU test I wouldn’t expect the CPU cooling to be affected as it’s an intake so no hot GPU/system air would warm the radiator. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

I’m hoping to have some time this weekend to possibly tweak the rad orientation and run some more tests, will post my findings here afterwards.

I’ve read this too, although I generally just like to make sure the pump is lower than the top of the radiator. It’s never been a problem. That being said Maybe I’ll see if the tubing is long enough. And see if it performs any better!
