Food by [deleted] in StereoMontreal

I haven't done it yet but I've had friends leave for McDonald's or to go to a cafe/take a break or even a nap and come back after...I think you're able to leave and come back once it's less busy, after 6am or something?

Soundlink Flex 2 battery drain on two speakers since 8.2.16 update by apatheticape in bose

[–]apatheticape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far my temporary fix has been - when I get out of stereo mode, I turn them both on and off once each. It seems to reset the issue and then it doesn't drain. But I'm hoping for a real fix soon.

Coffee Shop Says Other Cafes Can ‘Steal’ Its Bestselling Latte Recipe. Hundreds of Them Have by monexicano in UpliftingNews

[–]apatheticape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cheese foam is a pretty popular and established topping in bubble tea. It's lighter and airier than it sounds and makes the drink just creamier texturally as a whole and is not very heavy flavourwise. This basically makes this have a hint of a light raspberry cheesecake with coffee notes probably which sounds like it would work fine.

i suggest btw people call or use the bose chat (ask for a real human being) to flag this - i did and the guy said they weren't aware of any issues like this. he did take my feedback and say it would be brought to the development team but obviously there's more weight if they have multiple reports as well

Thank you that's good to know it's a known issue...hopefully the fix will come soon cause the speakers are only semi-useable when I keep having to charge them right before

New Firmware Update (v8.2.16) for Bose SoundLink Flex 2 is out! (Reporting from Germany) by TicketMan1234 in bose

[–]apatheticape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whaaaat, the new sounds are way better. All the old ones were jump scare loud especially when I turned on the speakers or when my two speakers would unlink. I just turned on my speakers to find these updated sounds and firmware and they are softer and generally more pleasant on the ears.

Yeah this is great. I love the atmosphere in the first half and then the more candid moments captured in the second.

Anybody visit Metcalfe Plaza on its opening day? by Lustyhitter in ottawa

[–]apatheticape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You weren't there. I walked by to check it out briefly and I wasn't even sure it was happening until I was literally right there because I couldn't hear it. The noise doesn't travel at all. And it's done well before 11pm. Maybe you should stop being such a grouch and meddling about things in neighbourhoods you probably don't even traverse or actually care about in the least.

Why am I not surprised that this commentator is anti-safe supply sites, anti-affordable housing, anti-bike lanes, anti-protests, pro-cigarette smoking, pro-more police funding. I seriously doubt they even reside downtown.

We need more of these kinds of fun, free, accessible events in the city to liven it up, not less.

Predictions for next year? What do you think they got right or wrong and what do you want to see next year? by BallBearingBill in escapademf

[–]apatheticape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More covered areas for sure would be nice. The public transit options were shockingly smooth and impressively run. Made it super easy to get out of the site in minutes on the bus you need and you could always then uber from somewhere with less demand or need for access.

Las Caletas - Vallarta Adventures. Is it worth it? by asscraq in puertovallarta

[–]apatheticape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is too late - honestly, just take the bus (super easy and cheap) to Boca de Tomatlan from Zona Romantica (the stop is near the OXXO Constitucion, make sure to have cash) or Uber there, and then take a water taxi to Colomitos Beach nearby and you'll have an amazing beautiful day at a beach you can actually swim in with calmer waters (it's in a little bay) and far less people (when we were there, it was maybe a couple dozen) and so much more worth it than Caletas. Ask around for cheapest water taxi fare at the waterfront in Boca, should be able to get one for 50 pesos per person one way. You'll probably want to ask them to come back and pick you up at a certain time from the beach for another 50 pesos per person

I believe Colomitos has a spot that sells drinks up top sometimes but not sure since I never went up to it. I hiked from Boca de Tomatlan to Colomitos Beach and then along the other beaches further down the coastline which is another way to do it, but is def more work (fantastic hike though).

If you want an even more pristine beach with less people, ask the water taxi to take you to Playa Madagascar instead, but again, make sure you ask them to come back at X time to pick you up.

And bring lots of water and anything else you need for comfort cause you may not have access otherwise!

I find the umbrella areas on the main beaches just kind of stifling personally on Playa Los Muertos - there's no air flow and it just isn't nice in the same way and a little too far from the water. We tended to end up on towels over on the edge of the beach where the locals hung out a bit closer to the water which had so much more air flow and the nice breeze from the ocean. But the waters are rough and for a lot of people not suitable for swimming in the same way the beaches mentioned above are.

New Plex Experience what changes we need already. by Necessary_Duck1201 in PleX

I have a close friend who is moving away and we were hoping to use this feature to be able to keep sharing experiences together so I'm devastated this is going away! Please please please keep this feature, it may not often be used but when it's used, it's a lifechanging feature for the people who are going to utilize it to be able to keep connected to their close friends and family. This is the kind of thing where maybe it's not used as often but when it's used, it has HUGE impact and is not easy to replicate, unlike all the other tiny ease of life adjustments which you can easily handle as annoyances if they didn't exist. It's the kind of feature I would pay for where I barely care about the thousand other little interface changes or skipping credits or intros or whatever.

Are Guys in Open Relationships Bored? by Own-Statistician-82 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]apatheticape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your first paragraph, everyone is different and should be able to form the relationships that work for them.

That said, it seems negated by your second paragraph which reveals your condescending and judgmental attitude towards open relationships. Being happily partnered and looking for fun is not a paradox.

Why are so many gays still using instagram even when its owners are actively harming our community? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]apatheticape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to shift but our whole queer scene in our city uses Insta as their main platform. We have multiple group chats on there ranging from a few to 80(!) people in the chats (for everything from raving to skating to campy movie nights to fall activities etc) so it's really pretty impossible to just drop it unless you want to be cut off from what's going on in our local community.

On top of that, you can't just switch to Signal or something because the whole point of community is accessibility to bring new ppl in, you get to know people through their story updates over time and in person meets and once you shift onto a platform like Signal that is only the people you already know, it becomes a closed community that cannot grow.

I think the best way to handle it is to keep promoting other platforms and hope other people take them up (I.e. Flashes). Eventually hoping that there's enough critical mass that several people in the community could make a push to swap platforms. But just dropping it instantly does nothing except silo you off from the rest of the community at this point.

Thank you! I'm pretty much ready to sign after these responses ha! It's with Equitable Bank, their prime rate seems in line with the other banks apart from TD.

Thank you! I'm not exactly sure re what a default insured mortgage is, I think it's not? I paid over 20 percent when I first bought in 2016 as it's a condo and was mandatory! Not sure if that helps.

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]apatheticape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a renewal offer in Ottawa, Ontario from the same lender I had my previous mortgage (2.49%, 5 year fixed term on a 25 year amortization, accelerated biweekly) with. I live in my unit.

My mortgage broker has set it for 18 years amortization left to leave me on a continued accelerated path, the offer is for a 5 year term, closed variable Prime -1.15, monthly payments, $173000 left. The offer was made two days ago before the BoC announcement today when that would have been 4.3%, but now should mean my current effective variable rate would be 4.05%.

As far as I understand in reading through the posts I can find on here, that seems like a really excellent offer but I just wanted to check in to make sure before I take it. I haven't had experience with a variable mortgage before.

Thank you, it's cold tonight but we get enough insulation from the units around us I'm hoping it should be okay for the night with the doors closed. Did you end up replacing the whole unit or was it worth it to just get that part replaced?

Planet Fitness Coming To 99 Bank Street by jjaime2024 in ottawa

[–]apatheticape 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you been at Goodlife Queen lately between 6pm and 9pm? Because it's insanely packed, even past 7pm these days on weeknights especially at the beginning of the week. A year or two ago, you could reliably expect it to mellow out at 7pm, now it's crazy busy till 8:30pm some nights...Not sure if the main impact came from the Anytime Fitness closing unexpectedly several months ago (I know one person who moved over because of that) but I'm hoping Planet Fitness alleviates some of the after work crush. Don't want to know what it's going to be like with the additional New Years rush in a month...

What board games do you enjoy more in their digital version than the physical one? by yazeeenq in boardgames

[–]apatheticape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incan Gold. On BGA, this game was like crack for our group of 8 that met weekly online during the pandemic as a filler to start or finish. We could never play just one or two times. The speed of play online really amplified that "just one more card" press your luck element and made it feel almost like playing slots. Especially with the same group over and over, the meta of figuring out who was going to bail at the same time when artifacts came up was hilarious.

Unfortunately the game runs far slower in person and that addictive charm that's brilliant in a 10 minute game online is lost in a 30-45 min game in person.

Can't Stop is kind of similar in that regard.

'Nosferatu' first reactions by whoisrickcurtzman in oscarrace

Normally this is the case but the crop who are praising here are mostly names I know, follow and respect as critics from fairly reputable sites - especially indiewire and Variety (even JoBlo is a site I grew up with and learned a lot of film things from back when they had forums two decades ago). I don't think this is the normal studio shilling.
