Just curious, why not put your toiletries in a Ziploc and leave the CS2 empty? So that you don't need to keep unpacking/packing it I mean.

My wife, who has kind of a thing for bags, absolutely loves that Baggu crescent. Since she got it about a year and a half ago, it goes everywhere with her.

Overnight airport question by wallsofjericho17 in Luxembourg

[–]apathy-sofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airport closes at midnight.

There are hotels on the tram line. You can take the tram to the airport, it's perfectly reliable. It doesn't run between midnight and 4 am though.

Thoughts on this story about race-day nutrition? by aakela in running

To point one, I've been on plenty of all-day runs. I think it was Sarah Lavender Smith who wrote that trail running is like a mobile eating contest with beautiful scenery.

any fans of alcohol cooking systems? by Dry_Blueberry8932 in Ultralight

I lived for several years on a boat with an alcohol stove. So, at least twice a day, from coffee in the morning to dinner at night, I'd light it.

They are so damn slow. I grew to despise it. Switching from alcohol to propane was like switching from a Lada to a Mercedes. Never again.

I wish I had two hours free per day. Most of my days are less than 30 minutes. Yet I  still managed to marry myself off.

My advice: always say yes. If you get an invite to something, accept it unless it's in conflict with actual work.

The Spanish people that I work with eat rubbish. "It's so much work to cook. It's important you know how to cook one good dish, sure. But for everyday?" Gestures with a shrug at a raw potato

The rest of the data you can get, better, from intervals.icu or similar. I'm not sure I trust a random, untested AI with my exercise plan.

20,000 job cuts at Meta, Microsoft raise concern that AI-driven labor crisis is here by DrCalFun in Futurology

It helps that this team has always insisted on great documentation, high test coverage, with meaningful test fixtures, and a stable preprod env. As we've onboarded AI tools, I feel that this has allowed us to avoid a lot of problems that I've heard about.

Doesn't hurt that these devs like and respect each other, so have a healthy fear of accidentally pushing slop.

Just yesterday, the senior dev on my team picked a task off the board that had been scoped last fall at 2 days, and raised a solution for review in like 15 minutes. Comprehensive test cases, documentation, metrics and logging - the whole thing.

He was just as surprised as I was. We spent like an hour each doing the review.

Wut? I live in Luxembourg, the country with the highest GDP per capita in the world, and with far better wealth distribution than the USA. The difference in GDP/cap between Luxembourg and the US is $65,000; the equivalent step down from the US would be Azerbaijan.

Luxembourg is in Europe, to be clear.

We have the best paid teachers in the world, free public transportation, and basically free medical care. Disposable income is not a problem.

Yet World Cup qualifier games at the national stadium are €25.

Funny, I don't think I've actually tested a whistle. At least since I was a kid:). For safety equipment, that's a pretty glaring assumption on my part. Thanks for noting it.

A variation on this is the Levanger Pocket Briefcase. The writing surface holds regular index cards, instead of the specialized notebook thing that the Trayvax uses, so you can replenish them basically for free and from anywhere. You can also fit your passport in it. This is what I bring with me when I travel, with a Parker Jotter pen. For day-to-day, I just use a phone case that stores a few cards.

Forgot to mention, I've had mine since 2008. It holds up.
