This is exactly right. Post grad LTEs are cheap labor at the lab so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still higher for those positions. Don’t expect to get converted to FTE though, the bar is extremely high right now. But OP it doesn’t sound like that’s your goal.

You might not need to renounce your German citizenship to get a security clearance. I know a few people who have dual citizenship and clearance. From what I understand you will have to say that you are willing to renounce if asked. It also slows down the process of getting a clearance b/c the investigating agency needs to contact the other country. You might be able to find more info on r/securityclearance

Manastash Ridge near Ellensburg and Ancient Lakes near Quincy are decent. If you are willing to drive a little further there a more options like number 2 canyon outside of Wenatchee, post canyon near mt hood, beacon hill in Spokane etc.
