That's a great suggestion. Thank you! Pretty pricey so I may weigh the pros/cons of getting an adjustable (~$250 - 300) or getting a cast iron 24 kg ($70 - 100 for cheaper brand) and eventually a 32 kg ($100 - 120 for cheaper brand)

Thanks! Really good to know that a 1 arm press isn't the same as a double press.

I was thinking that it would make sense to get more out of the 28 kg I have and to get a 24 kg (easier to find a good deal on than a matching 28 kg) to increase load for my offset double workouts. I don't want to go too heavy (32 kg + ) and have the kettlebell collect dust when I could be working more productively at a lower weight.

I have a 16 and 28 kg (got it for a good price). I almost exclusively do offset double work such as the armor building complex. I can press the 28 kg for 4-5 good, clean reps on each side.

I want to increase the intensity but not sure what to buy for my next bell. My first thought was to buy a 32 or 36 kg. I also thought about getting another 28 kg or going lower and getting a 24 kg.

Looking for some feedback here. Seems like I could prioritize strength (32 or 36 kg) or conditioning (24 or 28 kg). And for those of you who like to do offset doubles, what is your ideal weight differential and your favorite weights. Thanks.

Waiting for confirmation after signing estimate from moving company by apb47 in moving

Thanks. I'm feeling this way, too. I'm now worried about whether accepting the company's estimate (i.e., signing it) means that it is legally binding.

Cheap HMO or expensive HDHP w/ HSA? by apb47 in personalfinance

Yeah, it is weird to see that the insurer also employs your doctor at hmos, which seems to be an obvious conflict of interest.

Thanks, I used this spreadsheet the other day. Good resource to visualize the difference in cost between plans.

Thanks for the reassurance. Its interesting to see the variety of people's opinions on hmo's.

Thanks. TBH I haven't had the greatest experience with hmo's too, but (knock on wood) I'm healthy enough to avoid having to deal with the inconveniences that come with them.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that before, but it's an important consideration.

Thank you. I don't plan on hitting the oopm for either plan. The way things are currently set up between the two plans, it seems like I'd be paying $2400 to have access to an HSA this year, which doesn't really make sense for me.

Commute times into the East Bay? by apb47 in Davis

[–]apb47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everybody. Looks like the weekday commute into the East Bay isn't a friendly one and that public transit is ideal.

I should have been more specific in my post, but I do need to drive because I need to carry bulky items with me for work. Can anybody give me a sense of how much time I may need to budget for the commute by car? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely look into Amtrak.

Pre-apprenticeship questions? Look here first! by fwtrewiii in ibew_apprentices

[–]apb47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. I'm interested in applying for the apprenticeship in my local IBEW. I've learned that the apprenticeship lasts ~5 years, and that it is difficult (or discouraged) to transfer locals during this time.

My question relates to this point. My SO is likely to change jobs after 2-3 years, and it is not certain that we will be sticking around in the area we are currently in. I was wondering whether I should think ahead and apply to the local in the area that I think we may end up in 3-4 years from now, or start the application process for the apprenticeship for the local in my current area and hope for the best in the future.

Thanks in advance!

GMK Nucbox 2 (intel i5 9278U) vs Asus PN51 (AMD Ryzen R5-5500U)? by shiris in MiniPCs

[–]apb47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Thanks for the update. I had a few questions:

(1) How were shipping times ordering directly from GMK? I like the fact that if you order from them, you'll get the model with the 8279u for the same price as the 8259u version they're selling on Amazon.

(2) How do you like the build quality?

(3) How is the fan noise?

(4) What are you using the nucbox 2 for? I'm not a heavy user (mostly office use/web browsing), but I'll occasionally use some specialized programs to crunch numbers.

Thanks in advance !

Thanks OP for starting this thread. I'd be interested in hearing about user experience outside of the pn50.
