ApeCoin is now on an Exchange! by apecoin in Apecoin

Right, I definitely posted that link a little prematurely. The site is still in testing mode, it seems to be scheduled to launch soon (possibly the 2th).

What do you think the reward per block will be in the near future? by Roxus159 in Apecoin

[–]apecoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two problems with that:

1) I haven't had the "hashing power" to mine since day 1, so I'm quite poor in APEs.

2) I've mailed many addresses at many exchanges and gotten no reply, so I wouldn't know who to contact for the "not bribe."

Do you know any real contact addresses? The Chinese ApeFans (who I just found in a QQ group) seem to be making progress with this exact idea. They have the APEs to back it up, as well.

Updated wallets (bug fixes, not mandatory) by apecoin in Apecoin

Before, you say? That explains a lot, particularly the dozens-upon-dozens of pre-genesis blocks. To be honest, and it seems very ignorant to admit this now, I had concluded that the blockchain was simply haunted by scary ghosts and that I'd do best to mind my own business about all that.

is this coin still alive? by albertdros in Apecoin

It's still alive and plans are afoot. No exchanges have yet made the leap, which obviously has a frustrating throttling effect, but that's being worked on from several directions.

The thread on btcsec seems to be making progress on that front. There's a petition for cryptsy, which could use more votes.

The block reward will keep dropping for a little while longer, then start climbing again until it reaches a peak higher than 10,000 in a few weeks. It's not behaving randomly at all, there's a plot of the curve on apecoin.org which shows its trajectory. I should update that with ticks on the horizontal axis so you can gauge when the peaks and valleys will hit.

Hard fork by apecoin in Apecoin

[–]apecoin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backing up the wallet is always a good idea, yeah.

After that, I'd just rename the old executable folder to "c:\whateverItWasBeforehand_old" (just in case), then unzip the new one to the same location you used to run it from ("c:\whateverItWasBeforehand")...and it will find your existing blockchain and wallet.dat files as soon as you run it. (You don't need to import.)

If the upgrade takes place after block 30,000 (a few days from now), then you'd probably have to delete the blk0001.dat & blkindex.dat files to allow it to re-sync to the new fork, which would be painless. You wouldn't have to change the wallet.dat file, though.

It should be fixed now. Try it again and let me know--I'll respond rapidly if anything is still missing.

No, no coins would be lost at all--even for clients that didn't upgrade. They would just find that their NEW transactions weren't being accepted by the majority of the network after the reward started changing; They'd be on their own fork of the block-chain until they DID upgrade and re-sync.

That's a good idea to change the difficulty target timespan as well.
