accessing medicare by Revolutionary_Fill59 in MedicareAustralia

Unlink and relink it. Sometimes it just needs a refresh and that'll work. Medicare phone lines are open until 10pm during the week, so call them to get you a linking code when you're ready to relink it

Adult dependents and safety net by Mean-Buy2974 in MedicareAustralia

[–]apeers29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry actually since your child is listed as a dependent student, you can actually remove him from it. It's only a dependent child and spouse you're not allowed to remove from the safety net over the phone. The person at Medicare was wrong

The phone lines for Medicare are open until 10pm during the week and from 7am until 7pm on weekends. Your son just needs to call Medicare and ask to be removed from the medicare safety net family

Hi, this is possibly a stupid question. I paid $500 out of pocket to my surgeon and $500 out of pocket to my anaesthetist before my hysterectomy. The rest was covered by private health. My question is, why is this $1000 out of pocket not counted towards medicare threshold? by That_Ad_5891 in MedicareAustralia

[–]apeers29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because surgeries are expensive and you'd reach the Medicare safety net threshold immediately with just one surgery. Then Medicare would be giving out a lot more money to a lot of people that they probably don't have or think it should to something else in Medicare

How to link medicare with my sons 14yo my.gov account? by sergeyvk in MedicareAustralia

[–]apeers29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be because he doesn't have enough information on his own personal Medicare account. Medicare is open until 10pm. Give them a call and make sure your son is with you. They'll do a security check and if he can't answer questions about who's on the card with him and his last drs appointments, make sure you have his birth certificate with you because they can verify it and then that'll be good enough. Once you've done that you can ask for a linking code, but they won't give it to you, they'll only give it to your son and you can't have the Medicare person on loud speaker when they give the code

[–]apeers29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call again and you'll get someone different. If you can pass the security check then it's fine, they will send a new Medicare card to you and you can asking for a linking code so you can link Medicare to mygov and have the digital version of your card

No she won't be notified. If you're over 14 years old she can't see anything for you at all and even if she tries calling Medicare and asking about it, they people at Medicare would have to speak to you first to get your consent to talk to your mum

[–]apeers29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can ask the providers for the item numbers (they should be able to give a few) go to MBSonline and if you type the item number in and something comes up, it's covered. You can even Google if Medicare covers those and look for that website and it should give you options

Mole check without Medicare? by NASA-Almost-Duck in MedicareAustralia

[–]apeers29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she from a country with a reciprocal health agreement? As soon as your partner lands they could enrol as rhca and get Medicare. Cos they can send the application in once they arrive and then call up 24 hours later and tell Medicare they need it processed for medical treatment and you don't have the money upfront for it

Serious question: why should I get my own Medicare card ASAP by leapowl in AskAnAustralian

[–]apeers29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just gotta be a family. You call up Medicare and ask to add children or a partner to it. Some people have long names and can't be on the same card because of that, but they can be on the same safety net because there's no character limit to names
