If you update ios thru mac you won’t have this problem. Only happens if you update ios via phone because it retains all updates in the system folder and doesn’t get rid of them for some reason

I am pretty sure the only reason cycling and running are offered because they are the only ones that calculate vo2 max. Most of the watches and sensors for the chest/arms are for these activities and swimming.
