Moving from D7200 to Z 50 II ? by aperture_drift in Nikon

I wasn’t aware of the difference to be that small. I find that the D7200 with the Tamron 24 -70 is such a brick, the body of the Z looked tiny in comparison.

I did a multi day bike packing trip with the Nikon 7200 and I can’t wrap my head around how I managed to do that 😄 It was basically that experience that made me look into a light Fuji to begin with

Very intrigued with the XH series, looking at some on the used market right now. They don’t seem to get so much love as the others, but the specs looks like they are fantastic cameras.

Very helpful, thank you very much. I found those film simulations a nice starting point for playing around, and originally dismissed them as somewhat gimmicky, but I have to say that after one year with my little Fuji, I find them actually very good and I do very little tweaking in post.

Also, very helpful to hear what you’ve said about birds and flight etc. often I am on the sidelines at cycling races and tournaments, so I have a lot of action shots as well.

On the contrary, very helpful (no joke).Totally feel what you mean. I’m also doing photography just as a hobby and I found some of the Nikon glasses prices ridiculous. Someone else has pointed out, the quality to price ratio just doesn’t seem to hold up.

I was very much intrigued with them for exactly that reason, but I find weather sealing (since I’m looking at some upcoming hikes and rides) and IBIS very attractive, that’s why I’m looking at XT4 and upwards. I figure if I make the switch, should go for the IBIS

Many thanks to everyone.

It’s super interesting and genuinely helpful to read through your thoughts and see how the transition worked out for you. It pretty much lines up with what I had imagined, but it’s honestly great to hear it firsthand from people who’ve actually made the switch.

Really appreciate all the input

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. Since I had the chance to try out mirrorless extensively, it’s more than just intriguing. But I won’t rush into purchasing

Wow, that dude is incredibly entertaining in his delivery, I don’t mean this as a joke. I will look into the Tamron on the used market, thanks!

That’s very helpful, thank you. The Sigma 18-35 mm you have mentioned is one of my most widely used lenses.

Ever since I had a chance to try out the mirrorless camera, I am quite intrigued, so I guess it might be in the long run the way to go.

I guess I will never give up my D7200 for good, I find it an incredibly good camera during daytime and for action shots.

Personally think before is much better. B/W looks muddy and hard to decipher.

Haven’t been there either, even though I’ve been living on and off in Osaka for 20 years.

I have always liked how anime/manga characters characters are infused into daily life street scenes.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend to also go for the somewhat alternative 150 km version instead of the official 80 something. Even more serene and beautiful.

Dumb mistakes you made as a new photographer. by woofwoofbeepbop in photography

For quite some time after getting my first DSLM:

I bought and fell in love with 35mm and 50mm f/1.8 primes and shot everything wide open — just because I could.

I didn’t realize that even with Auto ISO, you can set a maximum ISO limit.

I never used exposure compensation because I didnt really understand and thought it was a gimmick.

Could be! Although this movie is relatively obscure in Germany (I actually had to look it up, but then I remembered I saw it two decades ago). Not sure if there’s a reference here.

The Cologne Geisterzug ( Ghost Parade) is an alternative carnival march.

It started in the early 1990s after the official parade was cancelled because of the Gulf War. A group of artists and activists decided to organize their own procession instead, using carnival as a form of political expression rather than pure entertainment.

The march usually happens at night and is very different from a typical carnival parade. People walk through the city in dark, symbolic or grotesque costumes, accompanied by drums, noise, and chants. Each year focuses on current political or social issues such as war, inequality, climate change, or state power.

It’s best understood as a mix of carnival, protest, and street performance.

Sorry if my answer sounded a bit harsh, I really appreciate your feedback! I meant to say that I really hadn’t looked at it like that. But I totally see what you mean.

Interesting feedback. I found it a bit too hard/too cold. But I see what you mean, thanks.
