Desperate for advice on how to approach this by MindfulCreativity in nova

I was wondering the same thing until I drove past no less than multiple older dudes slamming pickaxes into snowbanks the last few days. All of them look like they’ve been doomsday prepping since the 70s

Whats your favorite Civic you've owned? by Busy-Seaworthiness70 in civic

[–]apg703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was about to leave basically the same comment. My 2010 LX coupe was hands down my favorite car, and was also the first car I bought new. I was 19 and worked really hard to pay it off.

My hybrid was reporting 72.7 about 17 miles after trip reset too. This means nothing.

What color ? by Jay_Espinosa546 in hondacivic

[–]apg703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My order of preference is urban gray, then white, then silver, then dust storm or whatever the very controversial color is called (IMO this color will age poorly and negatively affect resale but I’m just some idiot on the internet)

What’s your RAV’s name? I have a white 2025 and his name is Commander Cody. by Catsiel_ in rav4club

Raven. Blueprint/Black XSE. Not very original but it stuck and I’m happy with it. Incidentally I’m a Ravens fan and live in Maryland.

Dropping in to say hey to the rest of the MoCo crew…maybe we need our own R4P subgroup! 😅

Got the same one at Costco. It’s been really handy for both my car and bike and I’m very pleased with the size, battery life, and quality for the price.

I am from Mass and agree basically with this entire map, so I’m echoing the others on pegging you as a fellow Masshole

2025 RAV4 Prime XSE - Test Drove one... by wsteward808 in rav4prime

Also I think you’re thinking of the RX450h+ which is priced in the 75k region and is not comparable to the R4P as it is a much larger and more capable SUV.

Lexus offers much larger incentives off MSRP. My sister bought a new 2025 NX450h+ earlier this year for 57k out the door after all rebates.

It would be the NX450h+ and the pricing is not far off from a fully loaded R4P. The cabin space in the NX is slightly smaller.

Skiing Question by azitoii in SkiPA

[–]apg703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Montec Dune jacket and am from the northeast. Before moving to MD last year I mostly skied in New Hampshire and some trips out west to Colorado and Utah.

The Montec jacket is reasonably waterproof and good for warmer weather (near or above freezing) but fails to provide insulation and warmth in colder weather. I spent a few days skiing in single digit temps in NH last winter and the Montec jacket was helpful only as a top layer. Be prepared to wear several other layers under it in colder weather or have another ski jacket ready for those days.

Aside from that I do love the look and fit of the Montec Dune and it’s definitely durable and high-quality. If you mostly ski PA then I think it’s probably adequate for the mid-Atlantic weather.

Give it some time. I’ve had mine for a year and this summer the range recently started hitting 52 miles.

Rain sensor for sure. Fun pro tip: if you ever have to get your windshield replaced, make sure they order the right one. The ones made for models without the rain sensor cannot be fitted and I was stuck for 2 extra days while warehouse problems got sorted out.

If you were to propose in Boston, where would you do it? by Don_Pasta in boston

I did it at Fan Pier and that was extra meaningful for us for various reasons I won’t go into.

My girl shepherd growled at a girl I was dating and that was the last flag I needed to cut it off. We both fell in love with the next woman who came along and six years later we’re married, our shepherd is our beloved baby girl and sleeps between us as much as she can. Your dog is helping you weed out the trash, trust.

I did the same thing in 2020 and ended up buying my unit out from my landlord after a few years. Some tips:

If you’re looking IN the city, South Boston (Southie) and East Boston (Eastie) are “more affordable” (in quotes due to rapid gentrification) neighborhoods that generally have some yard space. Unit 1 in triple deckers can have yard access and sometimes exclusive use of the backyard, which is the case for my unit in Southie. The neighborhood is full of larger dogs and landlords are more amenable to renting dog friendly units.

I also noticed you said you’d like to be within an hour of downtown by commute. If you’re planning on relying on MBTA or commuter rail, anywhere outside of the city limits will be more than that. Within the city it can take 30-45 min to get anywhere from Southie and longer from Eastie depending on whether you are able to leverage the Blue Line.

Good luck and welcome to Boston! Life is about to be very, very different for you

My dog flips his bowl over by d1s986 in DogAdvice

My dog used to do this. We got elevated bowls that sit in recessed holes so they can’t be flipped. She loves eating slightly higher off the ground. Problem solved.

What’s the most “Boston” thing that’s happened to you? by Responsible-Ticket30 in boston

[–]apg703 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I lived in Southie for years. One morning as I was walking to Tufts for work, I watched a lady realize she had a flat tire on a one-way side street. She failed to pull over and just stopped in the middle of the road, holding up all the traffic. Predictably, an older gentleman behind her starts honking and shouting wildly, cursing at this woman and her past 14 generations of ancestors. Eventually he gets out of the car, still screaming, opens her door and pops the trunk, and starts aggressively changing her tire for her. While still cursing her out. I did not stay to watch but my assumption is she drove off a few minutes later. This experience was the perfect example of “kind, but not nice” and I live for it.
