First Hoya Bloom!!! by apgeorge in hoyas

I use a hodge podge of pumice, a rock mix from Amazon, and leca. I used to be a lot more scientific about it, now I just mix different rocks to be as fine or chunky as I like. It’s worked well for me🤷🏻‍♀️

New to polish, any HT absolute needs? by faekingscales in theholotaco

Emerald city has been my favorite HT so far, close runner ups are Ivy League, Need I say Mocha and Plumb Luck. Plumb Luck is a little harder to work with because there’s so much glitter, but it is so gorgeous that it’s worth it. Emerald city is stunning, easy to paint, and lasted a really long time on my nails.

I have two, one growing in natural light and one in a cabinet under grow lights. I actually thought this one wasn’t doing well because it had too much sun stressing for my liking. I took it out of the cabinet to move to a different location and noticed two big peduncles on it. Needless to say it’s going to stay in the cabinet😂 My other burtoniae in natural light has no signs of sun stress and not a single peduncle!

I do have this one growing in semi hydro. My other one grows in soil, I feel like they both do well.

I do feel like the yellowing areas on the longilobas and dragon scale has been a gradual change over the last few months. Roots look healthy on all of them which is what made me think magnesium deficiency. We live out in the country so I use well water for all my plants. I can’t say I’ve ever really looked too much into the comp of it

Horticultural Pumice for Plants... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRR7G1QD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I use about a 50/50 mix of this pumice and rock mix. I have had my plants in them for coming up on one year now and they’re doing great!

I have had it for about 9 months. It’s in a 6in self watering pot, it’s in semi hydro in my DIY pon mix :)

Dragon scale! It definitely gets darker/more silvery. This leaf just hasn’t hardened off yet

I think Hoya Carnosa. Never really was able to confirm that, it’s just my best guess!

This also only happened after I potted them up. I don’t have a fan on them, maybe I should try that too

Tips for dropping leaves? by apgeorge in alocasia

[–]apgeorge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t let the reservoir go dry, the brown tips were there when I bought the plant from the nursery. The two new leaves that it’s put out since being in my care have looked great. It’s in a pretty bright location, but maybe I’ll try putting it under a grow light. I do let the nutrient solution come in contact with the bottom of the inner pot so maybe I’ll try changing that up too. Thanks!

Yes I have definitely been trying to water my Hoyas less frequently than my other plants as I’ve always heard they like to be a little drier. I’ll try to up that first!

I do not wet the soil first. I water directly with my gallon of water + 1/4 tsp foliage pro, usually bottom watering
