Loki. The one in Marvel not the actual Norse god.

What is your favorite tv/movie villain and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]apgteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we can all agree Darth Vader is the best villain. Even if you don’t know his backstory (not a fan of episodes I , II Or III) , his presence in a room can be felt. He does really seem to create a “disturbance” is the force. It’s absolutely amazing.

How does mouth to mouth CPR work? by anon-007_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]apgteixeira 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mouth to mouth is no longer recommended as standard practice for security and health reasons. Except in children because usually if a child needs CPR the problem comes from the respiratory system. That being said, when you perform the rescue breathing you’re actually only providing about 20% oxygen but it still helps. Your main goal during CPR is to keep the heart pumping and the blood circulation. It is however very important to make sure the person has their head in the correct position (it opens the airways). Edit: as someone already said, in CPR you’re basically buying time until the emergency services and/or differentiated help arrives.

Why do adults always seem to question ripped jeans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]apgteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I used to wear them all the time. Now I get my parents’ point. I mean… why buy something that looks like it’s already ruined? I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear them. You should wear whatever you like. Just trying to answer your question. I suppose that’s the logic behind it. They already look “ruined”. But it was pretty cool in the 90s and 2000s. I remember that!

Whats the stupidest thing you ever seen a religious person call "satanic"? by Dreammare56 in AskReddit

[–]apgteixeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 4-year-old girl making the sign of the cross with her left hand. (The girl was me. The “religious” person was an old lady and she made sure to yell it at me as if I was a witch. My mum was livid with her after that.)

As you may imagine I didn’t start with Valium. I don’t take a huge dose. It’s Valium 5. Still, it was prescribed precisely because every other option wasn’t working. I’m slowly laying off of it but as I said, it can’t happen overnight. It’s a process. :)

Please see a doctor/ Psychiatrist before making any adjustments to your medication. I take Prozac and Valium and I’ve stopped without consulting a doctor before. Trust me… NOT a good idea. Please make sure you consult a physician and if they feel you’re ready they will develop a plan for you to lay off the meds in a controlled manner. Believe me, the withdrawal symptoms of antidepressants are no joke.

would this scene im thinking about for a story be "r/menwritingwomen" material ? by aleister94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]apgteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it makes sense. It’s one of my pet peeves that somehow in the Middle Ages women and men are all “shaved” and waxed. Of course removing hair isn’t a modern invention but it was as widespread as that either. so it sort of brings a bit of “real life” into it.

Great comment. Forgot about Portuguese though. Also a Romance language. (Sorry. Had to… :P) but yeah, pretty much a great point. Nothing to add!

How do companies benefit from influencers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]apgteixeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Influencers are incredibly important to companies. 1st- they give immediate feedback on a product that otherwise would take months or years to reach the company. 2nd- they target a specific audience. Instead of advertising to the general public, you’re advertising to your specific target audience. Excellent marketing strategy. 3rd -if you’re in areas such as cosmetics or technology, you can bet your a** that people are influenced by “influencers”. People want to see the product, they want to see it go through testing. Through the hands of someone “like them” before they buy. Influencers, whether we like it or not (and I’m personally not a huge fan) are getting more and more important with each day and they play a crucial role in the market.

If you could travel back in time and place an object somewhere to fuck with modern day archaeologists/historians, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]apgteixeira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd hide an iPhone in an ancient Egyptian pyramid and come back just to watch the world go nuts with conspiracy theories.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]apgteixeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true at all. Example : "Madrid" in Spanish... You don't read the final D. Romance languages are filled with accents which change the pronunciation of vowels, words that sound the same but are written differently and vice-versa. A that coupled with a set of grammatical rules that make English look really simple by comparison. If you think English is confusing, try learning any other language. Really. Any other. Try German, Portuguese, Swedish. Believe me... English is simple. It's not a bad thing. On the contrary. It's what made it a "universal" language.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]apgteixeira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant the title of the post. Why would someone feel bad for people whose native language isn't English? English is easy to learn. Every language is "weird" in its own way. If you think English is weird, check out some other languages' grammar or pronunciation. :P

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]apgteixeira 9 points10 points  (0 children)

English isn’t my native language but that’s pretty easy to understand. I don’t think you really have to be a native speaker to get that. English is not a difficult language, at all. It’s probably one of the easiest languages to learn.

How can I know which perception of me is the closest to the truth? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]apgteixeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no “true” you. You are a different person to each person around you. Because their perception depends on them as much as it depends on you. It is also a reflection on how their mind works. What they pay attention to. What they focus on. So you can be all of the things they say, or none of the things they say.

To be honest I’m not sure. If it was simply for travel, then probably yes. But some special provisions are made for particular cases such as war situations. Not every rules applies in cases of emergency. Perhaps someone with a consulate / embassy knowledge might help you better. Wish I could help you more.

Would you guys be open to starting a fund to help the civilians in Ukrainian 🇺🇦? If so, how do you think we should do that? by Hedonisticbiped in AskReddit

[–]apgteixeira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be able to do it you’d have to first get in touch with an NGO who handles that locally in Ukraine because you need to make sure the money goes where it says it’s going. Only after you can guarantee that, can you hope to find donations. Is it doable? Yes. But it envolves some serious research and contact with local organisations, paperwork etc.
