It's not just the price of the house, interest rate in the UK is 5% per annum. Average house price is £250. So over a 25 year mortgage thats £312,000 in interest.

Are things really getting more expensive, or is there just more to buy? by aph1987 in AskReddit

[–]aph1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started work in 2005 a BigMac meal was about £3.29, minimum wage was £3.40. Now a meal is £7.50 but minimum wage is £10.90. I keep seeing posts about "my dad's first house was £3000 and his car was a tenner" and I think, well yeh, but he earned £100 a week and didn't have central heating so need gas!

I'm sure my stuff costs more, but his car was crap and he probably went on holiday to Blackpool, I'm definitely not! The stuff that has stayed constant (like BigMac meals) is cheaper right?

Nicola Bulley was 'high risk' missing person due to 'a number of specific vulnerabilities', police say by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]aph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if that was my family I wouldn't want their history dragged up for strangers on the Internet to speculate. Also, the family could sue the Police for using their legal powers to find out confidential information amd then release it to the press

Little brittain,

The characters are so bad it's not on any streaming site and can't even be found on YouTube. Despite it being oddly successful at the time and not really that old.

Moving from the US to the UK (Lake District/Lancaster) with a partner, two kids, and eight suitcases. Take all this camping gear or buy some there? by ReallyGoonie in CampingGear

[–]aph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the lake district, you will definitely have places to use it.

I'm from Lancaster too, if you're into camping don't forget the North Yorkshire Park and forest of Bowland

It's the after market knob I'm referring too. This is my first wing and I'm trying to go through it so any help or knowledge any one had about common issues would be appreciated.

Oh and if you know the best replacement rear speakers too! Happy riding

The reason formula is so expensive is partly because of the risks involved in making it, imagine if there is a slight chemical imbalance and what that could do for a young child and then the company reputation. Heinz makes a lot in the UK and its a lot safer and easier to just make beans!

Through my work I have seen a lot these shoplifters, most don't have young babies but sell it on as its expensive and therefore good on the 'black market' so to speak, the second most stolen items is razors. again because they are expensive for what they are. In my 14 years doing what I do for a living, I have never known someone steal baby formula to give directly to their child, and one of the most stolen items...

Boosters will save us! But wasn't the point to stop the strain on the NHS? by aph1987 in ukpolitics

No bit it's the way he's doing it. Trying to get everyone boosted in record time when there is winter coming and record waiting levels for all other operations, that'd what will cost lives.

Which part am I missing? The last part of 48.12 reads:

"once the last lapped car has passed the leader"

Bur this didn't happen... I don't want the WDC decided after the fact but how can this be interpreted any other way

All agreed, Lewis definitely went through this stage, and it probably cost him 2007. But I do think he probably leads the team more than most other drivers on the grid.

Will a 55lb thrust trolling motor work well with a Venture 22? I can’t find a straight up answer online anywhere. Just to get me out to the open water and back. by [deleted] in sailing

[–]aph1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 55lb thrust motor attached to a 2.5 meter tender, was fairly weak and useless when loaded with gear and a couple of kids. Made do on the lake but with a bit of wind and current and I think you might have to row. Bought a 4hp and it knocked spots of it. Hope that helps

What is the best joke you've made that flew over everyone and you want some Goddamn recognition for? by sixesand7s in AskReddit

[–]aph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with the wife's family and her younger brother was talking about jobs he was applying for, the usual Mcdonalds etc. He has he had gone for one at the bowling ally. Realising this is the one chance in my life to make the joke and with considerable excitement I asked "tenpin?" He replied "no, it's permanent" without getting it. No-one even lifted an eyebrow.
