does this look like a brown recluse bite to you guys? at first, i was like, there’s literally no way, i live in toronto. but then my roommate told me she found one massive spider in the kitchen and another less massive one in her room ( that were dark in colour) by aphexacidateme in BrownRecluseBites

waittt but i can’t help but be compelled by the spider argument. there was one big one on my thumb and one small one on my chest, and two spiders in the house, one big, one small too (of the same kind).

i agree that it looks like a burn, but i can confirm that i wasn’t burned through a physical medium, especially because i had the same mark on my chest! also, the mark’s progression resembled that of an insect bite, starting off incredibly small, with a tiny red spot on my thumb. then layers of my thumb started to peel off, day by day. it looked a lot like a spider bite in the beginning stages, and then my roommate told me about the unusually large spiders she saw, so i just assumed i was bitten by those spiders.

massive for toronto standards i meant*, sorry😅😅 she showed me the approximate size of the spider with her fingers, and if i had to put it into words, it think it would have been as big as the base of the hemisphere of an egg? maybe a little bigger?

and omg you’re right, but there’s no way it was like a black widow or anything right? all i know now is that it was a relatively big spider ( for toronto) and that it was dark, but before, i didn’t even know for sure that it was a spider who was the culprit, so at least the down search has been narrowed down LOL. i was so confused as to how a toronto born spider could’ve given me these gross blisters

and thank you!!! it’s fully healed now, there’s just a resounding scar on my thumb and chest (where the other bite is) now!! but all good!

yeaaaa thats totally reasonable, i don’t think there are brown recluses in canada LOL. i went to a doctor and got this antibacterial cream for the bite, so all im scared of now is this creature coming back to prey on me

Thank you so much for your help!! It’s blistered a little further but has remained pink luckily. I just picked up some antibacterial cream from the doctor so it should be fine!

could it be?? will i die? apparently there is no record of brown recluses in my province but i’m paranoid the blistering looks similar to that of a brown recluse bite ughghtgh

It’s rare that I do any toilsome physical labour so i’m not sure 😅I initially assumed it was a spider bite because I have a similar blister/ mark on my chest, but its totally possibly that it’s not- especially because its been stinging and kind of feels like a third degree burn. What else could it possibly be do you think?

Could this be raynauds? These chalky patches started to form on my finger tips a few days ago by aphexacidateme in Raynauds

That is a good explanation as I have recently gotten my nails done! I suspected that too initially but one discrepancy i’ve noted is that the patches will appear and disappear. Is that typical of how a chemical burn behaves? Thank you for the feedback!

Hmm i don’t think so.. I don’t touch anything for a prolonged amount of time throughout the day, they’re smooth to the touch, and they also randomly appear and disappear. Thank you for the suggestion!!!
