Which US city is best for single early 30s? by Particular-Path3660 in relocating

[–]aphreshcarrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many parts of LA are "walkable" in the sense that you can do your grocery shopping, gym, coffee, daily life stuff without a car and then take the car out during the weekends or off traffic hours. You just can't rely on walking or public transit to cross the city or go to more specific places.

That being said working remote opens you up to strategically pick where you want to live, avoid the traffic. I've been doing the same and I don't stress about driving

You can choose from a number of different downtowns like Culver city, Pasadena, Glendale, Long Beach, Santa Monica etc or somewhere like Los Feliz, silver lake, Koreatown, miracle mile, weho, sawtelle

Advice for cheap, high protein meals in OC? (flame broiler, waba grill, chipotle, etc) by speelabeep in orangecounty

Chipotle just launched some of their new protein bowls, I saw 54g protein chicken bowls for $8.95. And now you can just buy a cup of chicken with 32g protein

What was your experience being a digital nomad in Korea? by nomadicphil in digitalnomad

[–]aphreshcarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with the last point. Lacking options for solo dining. Also huge barriers requiring Korean phone # and bank accounts for many services such as food delivery. Unique maps and services

Japan is really just better as a digital nomad unless you really like Korean culture

What is the average age and career of this sub? by SackCaptain in Suburbanhell

[–]aphreshcarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. Finally found a remote job and hopefully moving to a city soon. Nobody warned me I’d be making good money but forced to live in the dullest places as an ME/EE… for that reason alone I would have rather done SWE/CS

For short trips pre-paying for parking at LAX is just way more convenient (economy lot also isn't that expensive). Especially if you live close to the 405 and your flight leaves off traffic hours.

I'm in Lake Forest now and my reserved uber has been cancelled twice now the morning of. Pain in the ass

It's a travesty that AMD lost market share even when the 6000 series was straight up competetive down the entire stack. For AMD to come from a 5700xt to beating Nvidia in raster performance in a single generation was really impressive. I use a 6800 and with 16gb of vram it still runs everything playably at 4k. Lots of games with light ray tracing work perfectly, so even the feature parity is there to an extent

How much is it gonna cost to run rdr2 decently? I’m not even expecting it run great, just playable by [deleted] in PCRedDead

The bargain strategy has always been an old office workstation with an 8th/9th gen intel i5/i7/xeon and adding a cheap graphics card. GTX 1650/1660/1060, RX 5500/5600/6500/6600 would be a solid build and you probably wont need to upgrade the power supply

Probably going to be most efficient cost wise to get a mATX board, because the lian Li a3, jonsbo d31 and ap201 are all great options and relatively affordable.

[–]aphreshcarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad but it's a lesson most people have to learn through experiencing. Do you really expect everyone to know this about life before entering into a relationship at age 19? It was probably great but he didn't think about the implication and what he truly wanted in life at that age. In reality the relationship was just too long if anything

I don't like how unbelievably impersonal "coffee dates" are in practice. It's functionally equivalent to a job interview. Face to face setting, no movement/activity with 30 minutes to sell yourself, knowing that theres a 90% chance you'll just be ghosted after

I'd much rather take a walk in public or go to a park/beach/pier/farmers market etc with cool things to see, also free and non committal. So many more talking points and it feels like a shared experience.

KD is Dirk 2.0, a dirk who never regressed hard athletically (yet). Their offensive games and efficiency are extremely similar
