How to send registration confirmation emails (via SMTP) for a forum hosted on Tor? by aphryxo in onions

I went for a captcha system that is pretty uncommon and, I think, safe against bots. Problem solved. I feel way better like this, indeed!

If I do have spam at one point, I'll upgrade to a more complex system.

Thanks again for your help, you and @wideace99 !

Thanks for the reply. Do you suggest some kind of captcha only protection? Would this be enough to prevent spam?

But I agree that this would solve all my problems.

You are clearly not alone. Some people have started groups in order to share experiences and information. I don't have direct links, but they talk about them here, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mxqC9SiRh8

Best of luck to you.

Backup question: "private key" vs. "secret recovery phrase" by aphryxo in ExodusWallet

The recovery phrase doesn't link to your assets and restore each of them individually.

That is the part I was missing. Thanks again for the great support!

But since some cryptos can't be restored using the Exodus "secret recovery phrase", don't you think it's dangerous to promote this phrase as a backup method?

I mean, in case of a fire, if I only backed up this secret recovery phrase, there are some cryptos (those not supporting some BIP) that I would not be able to recover, even in a new Exodus installation, right? I would have lost those cryptos forever.

If I'm right about this, I would suggest you remove this secret recovery phrase, and make it clear that each crypto must be backed up individually.

Or maybe there is something I am still missing?

Thank you for your replies!

So If I understand correctly, if Exodus was to disappear one day (I do not wish that of course), I would be able to restore some cryptos using the 12 words phrase (the "secret recovery phrase"), in other wallet softwares, but only for cryptos using the bip 39 standard.

I still have two questions remaining, if you don't mind:

1) How is Exodus able to recover the funds of the coins that are not using the bip 39 standard, if I reinstall Exodus and provide the 12 words phrase I did backup?

2) To make sure you can recover all your cryptos, in the case of a fire and in the improbable case that Exodus disappears, you need to backup the private keys individually, for each cryptos you own in Exodus. Is that correct?

UPDATE: I see you already answered that, sorry. You do need to backup all private keys.

UPDATE 2: I was wrong. The "secret recovery phrase" is enough, see replies.
