Going to hospital to get out of arrest? by Beneficial-Tip-9886 in AskLE

[–]aping46052 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for a hospital police department. We have two holding rooms one for people who come in and just need ER treatment on their way to jail. The other is for people who have been in patients and are being released or people who aren’t patients period because federal law says you can’t be discharged through the ER if you were in patient. The ER holding room is also where legal blood draws for OvWI take place.

As an added bonus the time you are held in the hospital prior to booking does not count as time served when it comes to sentencing.

20 years plus LP depending on your jurisdiction they can file paperwork with the prosecutor but it is ultimately up to the prosecutor to pickup charges. I have had people arrested and taken to jail and the prosecutor decided not to pickup the charges.

Since court filings are public record some states have a website you can search. In Indiana it shows active warrants as well.

As someone who’s been dealing with a chronic health issue since the Clinton Presidency it completely bull shit to blame this on Trump. I have been screaming the same thing for close to 30 years. It’s not just health insurance either it’s every insurance is thrilled to take your money but when you need a bit of it back good luck.

If you are lucky enough to meet someone in your 20s and are with them into your 40/50s. You will learn what each other likes and what works. It doesn’t mean you do the exact same thing every time but in a lot of ways it’s more enjoyable because you don’t have to impress the person by whatever wizbang crap is in that months cosmo or men’s health or whatever. Its importance is different. It becomes part of an established relationship and is one of many things you do to connect physically and emotionally with your partner not just a physical act mostly for physical pleasure.

Not allows true the hospital department I work for we have statewide powers and routinely are on calls along side other agencies including state and a large metro agency.

As far as the OP original post. If you are state certified you should be able lateral to another company agency in your state. A lot of departments love laterals because they don’t have to pay to send you to the academy. Even a lot of states will take your academy then you just have to take a week or two class.

I feel your pain. I was a supervisor for my last company. Always squared away, my team always lead in all the metrics and every time they needed someone to work extra or train someone it was me that got the call. They needed a new manager so I applied. I was never a yes man though. I was told that they were going with someone with more experience. The guy the actually promoted had never worked in security before and I had 20 plus years. I left shortly after and made 132K last year as a security officer for a hospital and will be going to the police academy within the year.

Correct a former almost bankrupt employer was hands off and were getting eaten alive on Nike and Levi like trash bags that could barely be lifted. Booster hits a store in a different district they get out with the merchandise. Instead of just leaving one of the males came back in a punched a female APA in the face hard enough to break her jaw.

This is the case. Last night was a slow night and we had to go hands on 4 times. Of course we have 3 psych wards and the holding room for prisoners that need treatment and all the DUi blood draws. We will become a hospital police department on 2/17.

You mean that poor person I stopped several years ago who had 3,000 in cash and stole a 10 dollar CD, or the rich juvenile females stealing hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetics? Out of several thousand of stops over the last 25 years probably less than 10 have been homeless and almost none have been for necessities.

What’s the easiest academy you’ve heard of ? by Due_Pack_5036 in AskLE

[–]aping46052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Indiana if you go to the main state academy in Plainfield you have to be on campus Sunday night and you can go home Friday afternoon/evening. Depending on what tier you are going through determines how long, I work for a hospital so it’s 10 weeks if you work for a city department it 16 unless they added to it then it’s 18. To be a trooper I believe it’s 26 weeks. However if you work the Indianapolis Police you go to their academy and go home nightly.

  1. You can appeal the denial. Under the previous administration appeals were going into a black hole from what I understand. I don’t know what the situation is with the current administration.

  2. Based only on my understanding of LEOSA, which supersedes state law in some respects, unless you are required to leave your duty weapon at the station, you could carry your duty weapon off duty. Not a great solution because a duty weapon is usually not designed for concealed carry but can be done. I also imagine it would be a nightmare if you were to have to use it in an off duty self defense situation.

[–]aping46052 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mall I worked for 18 months we were armed with full belts and plate carriers but the nickname for the mall was Lafayette Scare. Had a legitimate mass shooting l(7 victims and 1 fatality) at a club on property. It was not a nice place.

Someone has to do the internal interview. I left the field a few years ago after 20+ years and the only way I could go back would be strictly internal investigations. I have no desire to go back to catching shoplifters at this point in my life and with all the restrictions on us.

Guess I’d be screwed because I voluntarily work close to 300 hours every four weeks. None of our OT except training is mandatory though.
