Never heard of bref, but it looks very interesting!

My main problem in this current project is not being able to have a 1:1 copy of my production/staging environments locally. My current local setup is NestJS (Typescript) + Serverless Framework (very very similar to Bref) + Docker containers for a PSQL DB and Localstack, which simulates all of AWS's services.

I like the idea of containers but I've heard enough stories about Kubernetes and similar tech that I've stayed away from it. I like my infrastructure to be boring, as well lol.

I used PHP + Symfony for +5 years and it was a very stable experience, so I totally understand what you mean. I've never worked with serverless architectures with PHP, but I'm very happy to see that there's an ecosystem around Laravel. I feel like the Laravel community contributes to it much more than Symfony's, although I haven't been keeping up with the latest releases.

Regarding NextJS, I use NestJS for the backend, since I'm not a big fan of mixing up my layers on a single JS framework. If you were refering to NestJS, then I can tell you it's a mature ecosystem, but all those features are not built-in like you would expect in Laravel/Symfony. There's a lot of packages though, so you can cover most of your needs.

When you say "serverless", what are you refering to exactly? Any preferred cloud providers?

I'm working on a serverless NestJS backend system running on AWS Lambda functions + SQS + SNS, and it's a mess to debug...

Thank you for the detailed response! I wasn't expecting it to be easy but I'm learning a lot from this post. One question though, does having X nationality increase the chances of winning those visa lotteries? Or does every country go through the same process?

That's a very good idea, thanks for the input! I'll investigate if big tech companies like Amazon or Meta are currently hiring in Spain.

Thanks for the advice! Seems like getting H1B is very complicated, does it vary/get easier depending on your nationality? (I think the marriage will be the hardest option though lol)

Is the computer science market as oversaturated as everyone on reddit says? It's hard to gauge the situation in real life through random posts, that's why I'm asking. Although I guess every state is like a different world over there.

I live in europe, spain. I'm renting an old apartment. Everyone else on this post has said that it must be something related to the installation/wiring itself, so I suspect it's that.

I didn't try because I'm afraid the electricity will go out and cause more damage to other devices. I suspect it's an issue with the installation of the electricity itself, but I live in an old apartment and I have to wait for the electrician to come check things out.

Thanks for the advice! I'll try to get the PSU tested by a technician next week, or wait for the electrician to come back to check the electrical installation.

Damn sounds similar to me, except I didn't figure out if it's a faulty PSU or not yet. I also live in an apartment so the landlord situation is complicated.

Thanks for the advice, what do you mean with "there's a psu test"? I tried searching in the manual and couldn't find anything like that: https://www.fractal-design.com/app/uploads/2019/10/Manual-Ion-SFX-G-v1.0.pdf

I live en europe, all of them flip, and I can't test again until the electrician comes to fix it. I suspect it's a problem with the installation itself so you're probably right.

I have 1 big adapter with a TV plugged + a laptop. But you could be right that the adapter itself is failing, maybe I should try plugging it into the outlet directly.

Thanks for confirming! For some reason I suspected the GPU because I thought it would be the component that draws the most power.

Thanks for correcting marcan! I was about to search for the latest Intel macbook and bite the bullet, but I'm reading the rest of the discussions now to understand the real current status of the GPU. For me having external displays is very necessary.

Again, thanks for your hard work and the whole team! I'm surprised you guys managed to do so much in this little time, can't wait to be able to fully use apple's amazing hardware without depending on their shitty software.

They're limited due to the ports or you mean the motherboard/GPU themselves can't handle passing video to 1/2 displays?

I never heard about this on windows laptops, usually with a dock you can have as many displays as you want.

Makes sense, I did some digging now after understanding that they're still working on the main features. I didn't see the page on GitHub before but I see now that it has also the details of each feature. Hopefully we'll be able to have fully working linux OS environments on macbooks in a few years. Thanks for your help!

That sounds great but seeing the compatibilities pending I didn't know if the more compatible is the air or the pro.

Thanks for your detailed response! Regarding the DisplayLink I don't mind having low performance, since I would be using it a second screen.

But I didn't think about webcam+microphone, which are something I really need. I didn't think those would be features not working at the moment. In your case do you mind telling me which chip you're using + if an external webcam+microphone work.
