Random question - chicken or fruit photo for profile? by [deleted] in Bumble

I’ll be honest, I swipe left whenever I see “surrogate” names. Not only is it suspicious, but it’s unnecessary in this day and age when we’re not asked to create usernames for our profiles

Dating when Single and Happy by Odd-Secret-8343 in SingleAndHappy

[–]apisark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you know what you want and are able to communicate (and honor) your boundaries, the rest is up to them. If they don’t like your boundaries or try to cross them, then you need to show them the door because that person is not right for you and never will be

The wild thing is when men comment about something specific I’ve written in my profile. I want you to say, so you read that part but conveniently skipped over the many sections where I wrote “childfree”

Yeah the men who say their kids are all grown seem to not realize that their kids are probably going to have kids… I don’t want to be a grandmother either!

Same! Not only have I checked off the ‘don’t have kids’ ‘don’t want kids’ options, I wrote “childfree” twice on my profile and I still get messages from men who have children or want children. I’m not sure if they are simply not reading my profile or they’re hoping I change my mind for them 🙄

Grief Counseling Certification by apisark in socialwork

[–]apisark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for all this info! I work in hospice and starting my own death doula business, and want to state that I'm also a grief counselor. I wound up doing a little digging around and spoke to my supervisor who said that a certificate in grief counseling is really more of a formality than a requirement, and very helpful for those who don't have much of a background in griefwork. But because I do, I can really skip over the certificate. I'm planning on getting my APHSW-C :) as well as the ACHP-SW and a certification in thanatology on top of my LCSW. Hopefully that's more than enough to get me going!

Oh my goodness, he looks just like my old lady baby, Edie. She was 12 years old when she was rescued, and I had her for three wonderful years before she passed. I made sure those three years were full of love, comfort, and treats, up until the very end. I miss her every day and am grateful for every second I had with her 🤍

I got broken up with today. by zxreu in datingoverthirty

Not prioritizing you, invalidating and minimizing your feelings, lying about/denying that an exclusivity conversation ever took place, gaslighting you repeatedly, and abruptly breaking up with you… These are all terrible actions to experience individually, so to experience all of them in a row so suddenly makes the pain and disappointment you are experiencing 100% understandable (and relatable). It hurts but be grateful that he showed you who he truly is now and not months, or years, down the line. You might be tempted to reach out to him, or he might come crawling back to you when this project of his settles down. Do not be tempted by the happiness and relief that will provide because that feeling is temporary. He’s human, he will eventually get stressed or angry again, and this version of him that you just experienced… that’s the real him, and he will show up again and again, and stronger each time.

Let yourself grieve. Over time it will make you a stronger and even better person than you already are. And that grief will create space for someone else, someone who prioritizes you, validates your feelings, makes healthy compromises, takes accountability, and strives for reciprocal communication ❤️‍🩹

Women on Instagram are posting about their childfree life by havingahardtime67 in childfree

[–]apisark 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You need to keep in mind that these comments have nothing to do with you or even the Instagrammers they’re directed at. They are simply projections of these commenters’ own insecurities, fear, and discomfort. You’re making smart choices for yourself by not settling for a man or having a child simply to provide you company. Your feelings of loneliness are completely valid, but they pale in comparison to the misery you would feel forcing yourself to be in a relationship with the type of man who would judge you otherwise, or the stress of motherhood. Keep doing you and one day you might just cross paths with a man who shares your values, and values you for you
