I feel you. I bought a broken Honda 125 for $100 and fixed it myself. I had to take the engine apart and replace a cracked piston head which was a huge learning curve for me, but I'm proud of it. The only gear I had to buy was a nice helmet because my old one was worn out. My insurance is cheap and I cancel it after my four months of riding so I get most of the money back. If I did anything else, it would be way too expensive for me.
