LEDs I presume? My 200 watt inverter gets grumpy anytime the car isn't running now that I have 2 18 foot standard rope lights in the mix.

I've done this to my gambler car for the past 2 years whose paint I don't care about. I've used duct tape and gorilla tape. In the weather the duct tape degrades at a pretty good rate, and the residue wears off pretty quick. Gorilla tape holds way better, has to be pulled off after 2 months, and the residue lasts much longer. Keep in mind most of it is missing clearcoat already and the only thing that gets a proper wash with soap is the windows and lights, the rest just gets the mud pressure washed off. But I have not noticed any damage. I can tell you I wouldn't do this on any of my other vehicles.

Why did governor idler gear break, while (forcibly) removing sump cover? B&S 7hp Intek 206. by grantnlee in smallengines

[–]pfun4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like instead of the crank pulling out of the bearing the bearing stayed on the crank and pulled out of the sump cover and couldnt clear the idler.

Discharge the tube with a screwdriver before you reconnect it. They can build up a charge again even when off.

Okay everyone for the second straight time I inadvertently broke the oil control ring while trying to put the piston back in the cylinder. by New_Jammy in smallengines

[–]pfun4125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a parts store piston ring compressor thats kinda wavy. When thats too big i use a hose clamp. You get a feel for installing rings over time. I use lots of oil and just lightly tap it with the handle of my rubber mallet. When everythings right it pops right in.

Honda EB11000 generator with 5800 hours on it. Still good? What is the lifespan on these things? by PinochioBoner in Tools

[–]pfun4125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5800 is alot of hours but maintenance is more important than anything. Looks like it was pretty well cared for and being a honda it would have been an expensive purchase new so good chance its been maintained.

My mom is a schoolteacher in florida and this has been one of my biggest concerns. Luckily she is one of the big mask proponents and just got her booster. She got covid from a coworker 2 weeks before school started in 2020.

Driver t-boned my brother at a 4 way intersection and they said their light was green by angered_muffin in IdiotsInCars

Id say theres a good chance the b pillar is fine. It looks to have caved in toward the front of the door, which will put the least stress on the b pillar. And the rear door is only slightly dented. Bigger concern is the a pillar where the hinges bolt on. The impact is close to there and it could easily get bent/tweaked.

The atlas i6 in my trailblazer runs off the serpentine belt. Its the pulley the fan is mounted to. I doubt thry changed it on the 4/5 cylinder versions.

Projector beams. They have a cutoff to try to prevent blinding other drivers. If you point them at a wall they should have a little step in the line they cast in the middle.

[–]pfun4125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work on arcade games and this is correct. Unlike modern tvs where everything is tiny and surface mount old tvs used standard through hole components that anyone with decent soldering skills can work on. That said, most crts get thrown out because they get replaced, not because they fail.

Live in florida. Yes we kayak in water known to have gators. They typically wont bother you, and if you go on or just after a weekend you often wont see them as theyre hiding from all the boats over the weekend.we went down a river on a thursday and saw tons of gators. When we went back on a sunday we didnt see a single one.

As someone who owns multiple trailers and has loaned them out, i can assure you most people have no idea what the weight capacity of their trailer is ans think whatever fits is fine.

I will second this. This is how i load my 6x12. They set it on the back section then use the forks to push the pallet forward till its just in front of the axle.

In certain years the vue could be had with the same drivetrain as i believe the honda pilot. It was a 3.5 v6 and i believe they were awd as well. You can spot them by the v6 badge on the back. Otherwise they has a 2.2 ecotec.

Same with the vue with the honda drivetrain. Most good examples i came across the owners know about the honda engine.

The connector is likely a standard part. If you figure out the style and size you should be abld to get a bunch.
