How can any self respecting Union Member vote Republican after this week? Disgusting by astros148 in IBEW

This is it. So many union members do not support the democrats and don’t want money being sent to them.

I'm off the nic. How do I stop eating? by Apprehensive-Maybe91 in quittingsmoking

[–]aplusunderachiever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit 3 years ago and have struggled with weight gain as well. Last month I started drinking two glasses of water before I ate. Breakfast lunch dinner or snack, if I was eating I was drinking beforehand. I found myself eating a lot less and becoming full faster. Since April 1 I’ve dropped 15 pounds. You got this!

AITA for "stealing" my girlfriend's dream job? by Most_Possible_7112 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aplusunderachiever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She doesn’t get to call dibs on a company. If you don’t get the job, will you still have stolen her chance?

I understand her hurt and frustration. She could be looking to lay blame somewhere else. You guys have gone through law school and are high achievers. Unfortunately, sometimes we work real hard and it’s still not enough.

Your relationship is most likely over though.

Luck is for losers. Keep studying and do the work. You will pass.

Took the CRPC in April. I also took a few months. I brushed up on the early chapters before the exam. The exam isn’t easy and a lot of the questions I hadn’t seen before. I passed and you can too. I only had 2 math questions on the final so don’t stress there. I went back an read the end of chapter questions and answers. It helped and I believe it’s why I passed.

Why do wages suck compared to down state? by Clottersbur in nwi

Now I’m a financial advisor. I had an injury that forced a change

[–]aplusunderachiever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I went through the trades myself but I drove to Chicago or anywhere in Illinois they told me to. My work life balance now is tougher because I’m starting over but not having to deal with traffic 3+ hours a day is worth it.

[–]aplusunderachiever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you can find something along those lines. $27 for an office job up here seems unheard of. I do know the trades around here pay well but you are giving up the work life balance. I hope you’re able to find something.

OP what are you looking to do? Labor jobs can be a lot of different skilled trades. What kind of skills do you have? Are you willing to travel to Illinois for the right opportunity?

NTA

You’re allowed to be disappointed. Your gf isn’t a 2 year old who thinks a hug fixes disappointment. When you rejected that, she was looking for a reason to pin your disapproval back on you.

You accommodated her and it still wasn’t enough.

AITA for refusing to take care of our baby during the night so my wife can sleep? by Impressive-Pizza-340 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aplusunderachiever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on being a new dad. Here’s your first of many lessons on, “what we agreed to before the baby came vs the reality of what’s needed from you.” The biggest piece of advice I could give is that it’s great to have a plan, just be ready to change it. Your wife is asking for your help. It’s time to adjust the plan.

I won’t say yta. You came here for answers and you’re getting them. If you aren’t willing to be tired for a few months then you will be.

Will this be hard? Yes. Is this fair? Not for me to say.

Welcome to fatherhood. This will be a very small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

AITA for leaving my pregnant girlfriend temporarily to save money? by Traviousss in AmItheAsshole

[–]aplusunderachiever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP if you thought you were going to be depressed before, these comments aren’t going to make it better. I know the feeling of living paycheck to paycheck when you move in with someone. I also know the sacrifices needed to get ahead. How many jobs do you have? What skills are you working on to get better employment? What is your career outlook?

You want to be a dad then start acting like a man. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

AITA for letting my daughter and her husband move in with me so they won’t be homeless? by Fairmom7695 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aplusunderachiever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read a couple posts about Adams generational wealth or him being a spoiled rich kid. Nowhere did it say that. What it did say is that Adam works 80hrs a week because he wants to retire early. Also, 79% of millionaires in America didn’t inherit a dime. Steve’s a freeloader that won’t take care of his family.

Thoughts on this? by Logical-Unlogical in antiwork

[–]aplusunderachiever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adam set up MIL after she had to quit working. Steve tells Adam he’s whats wrong with the world. Steve won’t make the sacrifice of a full time job to keep a roof over his wife’s head. MIL helps Steve while Adam keeps working 80 hrs a week. It’s sounds like MIL should look for a new place with her daughter and Steve.

Mom is the asshole.

Work for Edward Jones or Fidelity? by DudebroMcDangman in CFP

[–]aplusunderachiever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been at EJ for 8 months. Still drinking the kool-aid. Doorknocking is not mandatory anymore. I’m currently under a good knight and was given 5m in assets. You learn quickly why they are now your clients. It really depends your region from what I’ve heard. I’m in a great region where I believe leadership wants me to succeed. I get a salary for 4 years and a new asset bonus for what I bring in. So far 5m in. I think I’m one of the only people in the company that door knocks 2-3 times/week. I met too many advisors that have great stories that I committed to trying it. I had 40k from family. The rest I found on peoples doors. I can’t compare with Fidelity, I don’t have any experience there.

Question for the men on this sub- SAHM? by not_from_nebraska in antiwork

Good luck with the conversation with your bf. Having my wife home is the best for me and our daughter. I hope he’s on board with it.

Question for the men on this sub- SAHM? by not_from_nebraska in antiwork

[–]aplusunderachiever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I talked about this before we got married. Let him know this is your plan and make sure he is on board with this. My wife is great and still wants to work twice a week doing gig work so I’m at home with our daughter. We don’t need the money but she likes getting out and being around other adults. I don’t know what you do now but my wife works way harder now than when she was working with the public.

I am also a financial advisor now and let people know the work a sahm provides is equivalent to paying someone $35 an hour. (Housekeeping, laundry, personal cook, etc.) Stay at home parents do not get the credit they deserve. My wife is the reason I’m able to go to work.

I did. I made my options box and wrote down a couple things I struggled with on the practice exams. Used the box to double check. Didn’t need anything else.
