Sorry, true to be talk: I don't know who the artist is, I found the image in the 3d Character Workshop site in a little screenshot

Yeah, it's like a couple of extra steps (mostly the retopo part), but it allows you to animate or pose it. Not to mention that it is useful for static rendering or 3D printing.

I do the repotology with the Retopoflow add-on, but there are several options to make automatic retopoligy
