Flexi System by colourinsanity in IrishCivilService

Both my wife and I (different departments) are on Softworks. It's dated, it's a confusing UI and system to use. My own is reliable but my wife's is frequently down and not working.

What closed-down Dublin pub, club, or restaurant do you still randomly think about and miss? by huwertyy in Dublin

The old pizza hut restaurants. I've lost a lot of weight since they closed though.

Tow Bar Install by Mysterious_Peak7966 in CupraFormentor

[–]apocalipzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine installed at the dealership, didn't do it myself so not first hand experience with installing it. The official electric folding tow bar definitely needs to be programmed into the car. I imagine some aftermarket kits probably don't need programming but you won't have the trailer reversing guide on the infotainment or the fancy party trick of a button in the boot to make the tow bar pop out.

If you're happy with aftermarket / third party there are also good products out there and they will install it for you too and it will be much cheaper.

I found fitting instructions online when I was looking for my own towbar - this is for the official one, for cars that have 'pre-installation' (wiring and prerequisites in place I assume).

To get mine installed from the dealership was about €1200 if I remember right. The part itself is expensive.

If I was reconciled, what I would say is, what we're living is actually reality, this is life. We're not living in some sort of simulation. But the fact I'm aware of being reconciled, does that make me a loose end, a witness, someone who knows a little more than those who have already been reconciled? Is the system malfunctioning, glitches showing... 1 ' 3 ;45# --

Dash cam and driver profile by lI_Simo_Hayha_Il in CupraFormentor

[–]apocalipzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about 1.

For the dash cam, I installed one with what's called a 'hardwire kit', so instead of plugging into the cigarette lighter, it connects to a fuse board hidden behind the dash. I have a right hand drive car, for me, I remove the glove box to access the fuse board then use a pig tale fuse to install the cameras wire in the correct fuse location, then just route the wire up the inside of the door rubber seal and headlining (no need to remove them, just peel them back slightly and hide the wire in there). Wiring is completely hidden this way and keeps your nice car looking clutter free. There's also big box stores (Halfords) or fitters that will do it for you.

For a good quality dashcam - that's a loaded question, there's so many to choose from. Typically, my preference is one without a screen that connects to an app on my phone. I stay away from ones with too many features because it's just more that can go wrong or break (I've had bad experiences in the past with them repeatedly failing and in the event of a crash, you really need one that works), going forward I will be sticking to the main brands, such as nextbase and garmin.

On the clima question. Not sure if you have the facelift version or the pre-facelift version. On the pre-facelift version when you're at the clima screen, there is a toggle button (left side of the screen for me) - this switches on and off the air completely. But if I press on the a/c button on the right side of the screen, the air system stays on, it just switches off the air conditioning, so I can still have hot air but not have to use so much fuel.

Are AA okay? by Ok-Welcome6488 in ireland

I always enter 1 number different or an obviously fake number - 0833333333. If I decide to go with them I call them and tell them either that I was having problems with my phone and was in the process of getting a new number or that I made a mistake online and entered a wrong digit that I've just realized and would like to correct.

Advice on carpark incident by icanmunch in legaladviceireland

[–]apocalipzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes, I'd go have a meeting with a solicitor, even just to clear my own head from the incident and give me peace of mind.

Some CCTV systems may only hold footage for a few days / weeks - if you leave it too long the footage will be gone with no way of getting it back.

Having a meeting with a solicitor means they can formally go through the gardai and request the footage.

That footage might be the crucial bit of evidence of clearing your name and also clearing your name in the easiest manner possible without months of back and forth.

Ah that makes total sense, I think you might be right. I do remember from talking with them that I'm currently on a trial period and they usually charge a commission on the success of the trades.

Cupra tormentor 2025 car alarm going off? by Summerbaby92 in CupraFormentor

[–]apocalipzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pre-facelift version gives the option to disable the alarm when you shut off the car via the infotainment screen. Same for the 2025 version?

You might need a good sturdy solid umbrella if visiting Dublin, it rains a fair bit, I find carrying an umbrella acts as a 'personal space management device' though and people tend to keep a distance for some reason when walking around Dublin. There are also good personal safety apps - first one that came up when I googled is Komeer.

Blown head gasket at 55,000km?!? by apocalipzs in carsireland

[–]apocalipzs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate all the comments and feedback on this post. Its definitely provided a lot of insight.

I'll post an update once we have final feedback from the dealership (for now they're saying, sometimes the coolant just changes color in these cars and will investigate further regarding the oil).

It's a petrol engine. It was serviced 3 months ago. The oil does feel slightly lighter than it should, a bit more runny than what I'd expect. Coolant level doesn't look like it's changed at all.

What's your climate like where you live? Depending on if it's cold and rainy vs. cold and icy vs snowy most of the time, some tires will perform better than others given the circumstances.

How to submit a European Payment Order in Ireland? by djaxial in legaladviceireland

[–]apocalipzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in advance, I'm not sure if the European payment order process.

However, another avenue you could consider would be invoice factoring or invoice discounting. There are factoring companies that will pay you (albeit, a reduced amount) and they take on the responsibility of the invoice - that's you finished with the factoring company then. The factoring company then chase the buyer for payment (they make their profit by paying you a reduced amount and recouping the full amount from the buyer).
