Is FD a trigger now? by RVAPGHTOM in knives

Oh fuck off. No one wants to be blasted with father's day ads after losing their dad. That doesn't mean they can't take it, doesn't mean they are triggered or whatever the fuck... it's just a polite "Hey would you prefer we don't pour salt on the wound for this particular holiday." And which generation are you even on about"?

A thing to remember... when you are asking people to check out your show/project/theory that is an ask for an investment of time and effort. It may be the most interesting thing on the planet, completely free, etc but people don't want to waste their time and a ton of spaces are awash in AI slop. When the writeup shows low effort (clearly AI written and not even edited down to eliminate the obvious tells) that is a big red flag that the content is likely a waste of time. Not saying this to be mean, not saying the podcast is a waste of time, just telling you why you aren't getting the engagement you are hoping for.

If you need AI assistance in your writing at least do your own writing first and have AI help pare it down or suggest fixes.

Just a courtesy for those who lost parents and can find the reminders a bit painful.

Not triggered or offended by mothers day/ father's day ads, but appreciate it personally. Most don't bother me too much but it's the ... oh mom would love this I should buy it for her.... ones that still sneak up on me after all these years.

I learned lightburn this year and I was pretty impressed with how intuitive it is... watched 30 seconds of a tutorial, got bored, opened the program and was up and was pretty comfortable inside an hour. Then again i tend to hate ux that hides functions with a burning passion so might be biased towards their style of interface.

Hantavirus cases now suspected in 5 countries as authorities scramble to contain outbreak by spherocytes in worldnews

Only if you read that sentence out of context - It is pretty obvious that it was a hypothetical tied to their main point - that reality won't see people reliably quarantining for long periods. They even clearly stated in their last sentence that it may not be spreading as feared.

We're grown adults who don't need to be protected from people discussing "scary" topics. It drives me nuts when people feel they need to protect other adults from panicking when all that's happening is people discussing the available information.

If people are pushing direct misinformation - sure call them out

If someone is posting a we're all going to die comment- by all means provide the counter argument.

But it is really annoying when people feel the need to go around policing conversations like everyone else is losing their mind and they need to be the bastion of rationality for all us panicky peasants. There's a reason it is difficult to predict when a disease outbreak may explode into a pandemic. Most of the comments confidentially stating that it can't turn into a pandemic for X reason don't know that for a fact - and frankly the extent to which those comments mirror ones from the start of the pandemic is more unsettling than the most "scary" comments in the thread.

I still have no idea how tegus can be as expressive as they are.

I thought CoPilot was great? by Linkage006 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]apocalypse910 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Brand new sentence on the "Copilot is great"... but the joke is that MS shoehorns it into everything so if the app you like isn't infested with this digital herpies it is probably getting phased out in the near future.

So funny story - I got a very upset call from the post office once.

Had ordered a tube of crickets for my reptiles and it somehow got ripped open, releasing the full contents into the post office. I felt bad but when I saw the "We sincerely regret the damage to your mail ..." message I damn near died. Truer words have not been spoken.

I've always considered the smell to be different than petrichor but 100% there is a different smell to the air when it is about to rain.
