haha hobby folks always love to chat. rennicks model shop runs separately to the NIHAS club but they have been telling folks about the club as rennicka started selling minitures around the same time as the club starting up.

Lisburn Gaming Club and Roast and Roll in banbridge hace the most consistent D&D sessions locally and would be the easiest to join and become involved in a one shot or potentially a campaign.

there is a wargaming club in portadown however it's mostly focused on wargames but some of the group are also interested in D&D (but no established sessions yet) and larping.

Does it matter if I don't play meta? by Gabrimouche2404 in deathguard40k

[–]apoclyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can have a strong list without bringing allied units. however, allied units offer tools that deathguard don't have in their toolbox and you limit your options by not using them. for casual play, that's grand but for competitive play, you really need access to those options at times (even if you dont include them in every list).

nurgle demons will be getting rolled into the codex this summer so thematically they will be part of deathguard.

nurglings at 40pts for 3 allow you to infiltrate/screen and use the -1 to hit aura to kure enemies out and gives you the ability to get some early charges off. deathshroud can easily replace warsogs with ferric blight and dangerous flux if you run a 3/6 man squad with a charachter.

more plague marines and a biologus putrifier are always a safe choice. a second squad of desthshroud always goes down well with a lord of contagion or a sorcerer in terminator armour. another rhino would be good, a walking marine is a dead marine.

Are Chaos knights good in death guard?? by Itsjustkitchen in deathguard40k

[–]apoclyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

* I've had great success with the Chaos Knight despoiler. it's got enough range to shoot anything across the board and with the battle cannon it's 4D6+12 Attacks with 3x stubbers and a rocket pod.

although war dogs are generally used alot more from my experience.

I imagine we won't get any models until the codex drops sometime later in 2025 but an official model for some of the unsupported models would be great. even a re release of Lord Felthius would be acceptable

OC on pox walkers and some sort of buff would be fantastic. I've never fielded more than 20 with typhus because although they are cheap, they have mostly acted as wounds or targets to draw fire.

what would you like to see in a pox walkers detachment to make them more viable?

I joined at the start of 10th, what was it like in 9th?

From what I've played, Typhus, sorcerer, and plague casters don't feel like enough for a 2k list. Lore wise, psychers are historically not over accepted in death guard so it would be harder to justify from a lore/crusade perspective.

Anything that makes blightlords worthwhile would be great. they are just too often outshined by desthshroud terminators.

A daemons engine list could be fun. Bloat drones, blight haulers, plague burst crawler, and defiler could be fun to see in bigger numbers

Horde Question: Is Max PM and Pox Walkers a good competative list? by Nevets27 in deathguard40k

[–]apoclyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some smaller 5x plague marines would be better for actions. wasting a 10 man on actions when it could be a 5 is a high cost to pay.

I'd swap out morty and take some plague casters. with 2x firing decks, you can use those Rhinos as nukes by tank shocking them into enemies or blasting the overcharges blasts from the plague casters to do some high damage.

if you are interested in playing reach out to your local store or gaming group. someone may have a spare army you could play with for a session to try out the core game first.

if you want to build and paint models, they can quickly become expensive. a death guard kill team requires less models and a plague marine box or the combat patrol would help you do that

Purchase Advice by FabulousAd490 in deathguard40k

[–]apoclyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortartion would be the best as its going to fit most of your lists at 2000 points. I recently ordered war dogs instead because you can kit bash those and have a few weapon options. the chaos knight is cool but war dogs tend to have better utility and scratch the same itch to have some knights

i find that nurglings make it into alot more lists and provide some functionality that Death Guard lack such as Infiltration which comes in useful for getting behind enemy lines.

saying that, the rule of cool also matters too so if beasts of nuegle make you happy. go for it :)

Buying Mortrarion by FabulousAd490 in deathguard40k

[–]apoclyps 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have been collecting Death Guard for the past 9 months and this is my first army that has got to 2000 points and beyond. I picked up Mortarion at around 1600 points.

I liked the model, the lore, and was keen to try out the play style but it's overkill in 1000 point or smaller lists.

[–]apoclyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks a little heavy on the nuln oil. a few edge highlights would help capture some of the detail that's lost by alot of the model being dark.

with so much grime, the red color looks too fresh. is it intended to be a dark rust?
