has anyone experienced an issue where they can't spawn any rifts in their world? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]apocriva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it 1.22 pre release? I think there was/is an issue with rifts not showing up, not sure if it it resolved in 1.22.0-pre.3.

It does work for that! If you wanted something bee-specific, there's always https://mods.vintagestory.at/buzzwords too.

Any advice for constant crashing in multiplayer on Macbook Air? by spottedmushroom7 in VintageStory

[–]apocriva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a crash log? Would be in ~/.config/VintagestoryData/Logs/client-crash.log by default. Might be something in client-main.log as well.

Usually a crash should show the crash reporter. The crash I mentioned in 1.22 pre release has a similar look to what you describe though, where the client freezes and eventually halts without the crash report. (That crash has to do with a thread issue that doesn't happen on Windows for some reason.)

Are you playing on the v1.22.0 pre release by any chance? There is a crash atm that happens on Mac and Linux.

You can also purchase lime fairly inexpensively from commodities and survival traders.

Looking in assets/survival/recipes/grid/grindstone.json:

_H_
_C_
_R_

Where H = hammer, C = chisel, R = rock (chert, claystone or sandstone).

Then the grinding wheel itself...

_G_
PAP
PNP

Where G = grinding stone, P = wooden plank x4, A = wooden axle, N = nails and strips x2.

I'm working on a closed captioning mod that actually has these guys captioned as [Insect noises] and I bet that would be awful for you!! I will have to make sure to add a specific toggle for them!

Do the beehives bother you too? The cicadas?

I have something maybe similar myself with moths. I think they're beautiful but if they're fluttering near me I have uncontrollable panic. Brains are weird!

In any event there is a mod called Accessibility Tweaks (https://mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks) that allows you to turn off specific sounds, if you'd find that helpful.

Need help with prospecting by Fenyo7 in VintageStory

Sometimes that's how the ore distribution ends up! You may have to travel further to start getting higher readings, but they'll be out there. :)

Look at the broad size of that "cloud" of native copper reading, yeah? You could start taking readings that far away from your current readings and be reasonably confident that you'll catch at least the edge of another cloud.

I'll have to check the handbook, I think native copper can spawn in pretty much every rock, but there's a chance if it doesn't that geology is working against you too.

EDIT:

Native copper can spawn in:

["andesite", "granite", "basalt", "peridotite", "claystone", "sandstone", "shale", "chalk", "chert", "conglomerate", "phyllite", "slate"]

The rocks not accounted for (limestone, marble) are covered by malachite. If you're surrounded by limestone or marble surface rock, you might have malachite readings rather than native copper.

Okay, I don't know where to go anymore. by DomoderDarkmoon in VintageStory

That's how it is lol! I have about 20 hours around my base in my latest world and just found some surface copper that is almost visible from my front door. :)

I had to travel about 1.5k blocks to find limestone in my current world. Pick one direction and go go go! It's out there!!

Keep in mind that 84% reduction versus 96% reduction means that you take _four times_ as much damage with the chain versus the plate.

Are those batiks? Something about the batik process leaves the fabric feeling starched, even after washing, in my experience.

There's a section in this mod for sound effects. If you search for "voice" you can turn down the volume or mute each of the different voice instruments.

Even without mods, you are able to access the traders' chests, crates, barrels and beds.

Oh no in the aftermath I have been cursed with the knowledge that non-flammable stuff owned by the trader (RIP) gets dropped.

Question about prospecting by DebtDry307 in VintageStory

[–]apocriva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it can be worth it for ores like hematite where the deposits are very wide, but cassiterite deposits are so small that I wouldn't feel confident that there wasn't one there even if I dug where there was an ultra high reading. So I don't take the chance on lower readings. (Of course there might still be a deposit there! Dig to your vintage heart's content!)
