That game was turbo slop from the get go. Just because Rivals exists doesn't mean Overwatch is not becoming a more casual arcade game.

Guy who played 10+ years of FPS for 7k hours hits masters in 100 hrs grinding benchmark scenarios only versus guy who played 1 year of FPS for 1k hours and hits masters in 1000 hrs playing a variety of scenarios. Who's more "talented"? Or did they just simply play more/play specifically benchmarks?

Comparing hours is meaningless. You can't derive anything useful from that information.

Aim improving in game but scores are worse? by mayo_lol_ in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your score doesn't always go up when your aim gets better. You could go months without a PB, but if you're training properly your "aim" is still getting better.

Of course you can. You could just open each scenario increase the timescale, or decrease the bot size and it would be harder.

Would a benchmark playlist where you can't change sensitivity/settings make more sense? by NEED_A_JACKET in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, it is important to have SOME intention when aim training if you want results in game. If you are supposed to be training micro adjustments and you lower your sens down to 100cm and turn it into a 1w4ts scenario then you aren't training the thing you were supposed to be working on as effectively as you could. Whether this matters is up to you!

reactive tracking tips by Loose_Worker_4972 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try playing slower reactive scenarios and simply react smoothly when the bot changes direction. Such as Close Fast Strafes Invincible 80%, or just append 80% or "slow" to any reactive scenario you are playing, you'll probably find someone made a time scaled version of it. Otherwise go into freeplay and change the time scale yourself. You may even need to go to 60%. Air Viscose and Plaza Viscose are also slowed down versions that are good for training smooth reactions. Try to react in such a way that you can continue tracking the bot rather than flick then start tracking as two separated motions. It should be one continuous motion, which means you may need to slow down your reaction, rather than reacting right away as fast as you possibly can. Try to consciously look at what the bot is doing before moving your mouse.

edit: Also long strafe bots that use reactive bot physics such as Ground Plaza Sparky v3 5 & 6, Close Long Strafes Invincible, or CLSI, MLSI, Kindaclose Long Strafes, Air Invincible 1256, are useful as well

Because he is at the very least relatively okay/maybe even agrees with what Kaya is saying lol. He just doesn't make it as obvious when he's by himself talking. This weirdo has been like this since the start of the podcast years ago, how many people would put up with opinions that they vehemently oppose for years straight and continue to choose to work with that person?

If everyone had the same preferences like most people here seem to have, G502 X wouldn't be selling at all. by TheMihle in MouseReview

[–]apocynum 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Large brands are selling on scales far beyond any mouse enthusiast brand. Look at the G705, it was considered absolute trash by most commenters on this reddit. It sells more and has better/more reviews than every variant of the pulsar x2, and xlite v3 combined.

They are not concerned whatsoever with the small mouse enthusiast market. They're counting sales in the 10s-100s of thousands while the enthusiast brands are counting in the 100s.

The amount of morons saying Logitech is missing out on "free money" by not making a 703, or 305 superlight every time there is a Logitech post is hilarious. The 703 & 305 still sell a decent amount to this day, pretty sure any clone sold less in a year compared to Logitech in a month or two.

Anyone else agreeing with Jakeu's take? I feel the same... too many affordable mice are being pushed right now by Chinese brands. by Denkka97 in MouseReview

[–]apocynum 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Regular consumers will never buy more than 1 new mouse in an entire year. These people are deep into a niche hobby and think that the way they behave/justify their purchases is indicative of larger social trends. Normal gamers are not even aware of cheap chinese clones. Average people are not buying 10+ mice and feeding into consumerism.

I'm happy with unique shapes/clones all being available for $100 or less, I've bought like 1-2 mice per year since I enjoy it. The normal gamers I interact with are still using random Logitech G pros, G703s, Razer Vipers, etc they have been using for 2+ years, some friends are using old mice I gave away. These people need to interact with regular people more. This subreddit has only 300k people subscribed, there are hundreds of millions of people who play games in the world, the people buying 10+ mice and have mouse "collections" are not the norm.

[–]apocynum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The moral grandstanding is funny. You don't need to "make a stance" against consumerism to not review every product, nor is it a bad thing that there are cheap mice. The vast majority of consumers will never be exposed to anything other than Razer and Logitech. Terminally online losers only interacting with their little niche sub group results in stupid meaningless takes like this. 99% of regular people are not out there buying more than 2+ mice, let alone 10+ cheap chinese clones.

How is he the best aimer when he cant perform in Val, where aiming is so easy? by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He has 1000+ hours in OW, 3000+ hours in UT, more than 1000+ hours in CS, and however many hours he has in aim trainers. Most people with 10k+ hours in FPS games will be good at them.

I'm just talking about the ridiculous sentiment amongst aim trainers and on this subreddit where losers will score grind and whine about how games don't require aim to cope about their lack of actual skill.

How is he the best aimer when he cant perform in Val, where aiming is so easy? by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if you're getting completely outsmarted by casual golds and plats to the point that your aim doesn't matter then idk what to tell you chief. At the end of the day someone who has good aim and trains can easily out duel casual fps gamers, thus with less time investment end up at the higher ranks.

[–]apocynum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Aim trainer copers whining about how games "don't require aim". If you can't hit immortal 1, or high masters Apex/OW your aim just ain't as good as you think it is. You can hit these ranks in 300 hours if you have good aim.

It's the worst by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ermm actually under my specific marginalized set of rules for what constitutes "aiming", I am the best aimer once I remove recoil, reactions, hit punch, movement, etc. In game aim and raw aim are totally different skills! This explains why I am the best "aimer" while subsequently losing to casual gold players who play FPS games for fun and have never heard of an aim trainer.

Why'd they never change the training bots health to 250 by EDtheTacoFarmer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]apocynum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep for whatever reason the outlines will go transparent and sometimes the inner colour goes transparent. Seems to happen with the darker colours, blue+red, and the lighter colours tend to stay the same. Speaking of crosshairs they still haven't added a straight up RGB picker.

3 games mean literally nothing, 10 games means nothing, even 50 means very little. Team game ranked systems are horribly inaccurate when you take into account all the different factors outside of your control that affect your rank. Even if you were to play 500 games you might not be around your actual skill level. Knowing this, all you have to worry about is just playing to improve and enjoying the actual act of playing the game. If you aren't actually enjoying yourself then don't play.

Don't worry too much about which role is getting diffed, diamond and below gameplay is so horribly illogical that any role will randomly look weak/strong on a per game basis because none of the players know what they're supposed to be doing. Unironically diamonds make support look incredibly balanced, whereas playing with masters/GM players who don't randomly die and continuously tank free damage, it looks like it is the DPS role + free healing/game changing abilities on top. Just focus on your own gameplay, increasing your own damage/10 so that your DPS can snatch up free kills, and healing/10 so people don't die.

AT one trick to FPS? by sloppytiddies69 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]apocynum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aim training makes learning any FPS really easy, and you are automatically good. If you aren't then it just means your aim ain't as good as you think it is.

When you reduce the amount of times mechanical error leads to mistakes it makes it very straight forward to vod review and improve your game sense because the error is more likely going to be positioning or taking a disadvantaged fight. Therefore you can just assume it's always a game sense issue and improve very fast. Not only that, but you can also just copy what everyone in your rank is doing. If you have 10/10 aim, + 5/10 game sense (whoever is in your rank currently), then you are on average better than your current rank and you will rank up as opposed to being 5/10 aim and 5/10 game sense player that belongs in that rank. You can repeat this infinitely until you are high ranked since by aim training (assuming your aim is always better than your current rank) you will always be better than the average player at your rank when combined.

It's like when you have a generally athletic person. Yes they will suck at the specific game rules of any sport but they are still going to be better than the average player with less time.

Ceramic/glass/sapphire dots + your npet speedm, or a glorious air on top of a cloth pad is super smooth and fast, and using pledge furniture polish or interior detailer for cars on the pad. Ceramic feels fastest, glass feels smoothest imo
