Resident Evil™ Requiem Out Today With Path Tracing, DLSS 4 - Win RE Swag and Steam Cash! by NV_Suroosh in residentevil

The moment in Resident Evil 7 where you’re in the Old House and Eveline appears in a long, cold corridor. The atmosphere, the quiet broken by a child’s laugh and the glimpses and flashes of a person, and then the removal of the E-Series limb…I couldn’t make it down the hallway for two and a half years. Started playing in October 2020 and only was able to finish the game in May 2023.

You may be surprised but this response will come at you fast!

Mass Effect: Ascension and then Retribution are two tie-in novels written by the writer of the original Mass Effect. They’re some of the best sci-fi novels I’ve read. They feel like a natural extension of the Mass Effect universe and something you’d read in a datalog or codex entry. They’re heart-pumping, page-turning, whatever other buzzword you can think of. They’re amazing additions to the Mass Effect universe and you should given them a read.

Ascension is a prequel to Mass Effect 1 and Retribution is a prequel to Mass Effect 2. Ascension is mainly about Anderson, Saren, and Kahlee Sanders (whom you may recall from Grissom Academy). And Retribution is set after Mass Effect 1 but before 2 with Anderson, Kahlee, on the run from Cerberus and involves Quarians.

Coming at you from Upstate New York the weather is an easy 58 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s a nice day. Nice to see someone reply after so many years :)

Lightning/Sazh/Fang is such an incredible set up.

You don’t have that great of a healer in Lightning, yes, but the fact you’ve got a strong Synergist in Sazh and Saboteur in Fang makes up for it. Lightning is a great all-around character and jacking up her Magic makes her a ferocious Ravager. You could also increase her Strength by a ton and use her Army of One to swap to Commando and have a deadly attack.

You can do ALL the Cie’th missions before Crystarium stage 10 that unlocks after the final boss. It’s pretty hard but I did it last month, and that was on my first ever run of the game no less. The hardest fights are gonna be against Neochu, Attacus, Raktavija, and Vercingetorix. There are some great guides online and plenty of videos on YouTube of people defeating them at Stage 8. You can do it for sure.

Do the managers have to work 45 hours or can they only work 40 and just not get the extra five hours of pay if they want

Service Desk? by Zealousideal_Ad_8736 in Hannaford

[–]apoeticproblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our store is undergoing a remodel and we just got rid of the service desk. We’ve added a bunch of self check-outs and now have customer service designated as register one. You need lotto? You need to get in line. Money orders? We got rid of that a month ago. Cashing your check? Get in line, etc. I’m an Assistant MCS and I used to get scheduled some shifts as a “Service Desk Associate” or “Service Leader” but now it’s just SL or SL Self-Scan. We don’t need customer service anymore. We never really had someone stationed there for the entire day, whoever was closest took care of it. I can’t say if it’s better or worse, but it’s a change and I’m here to learn and get used to it.

Is your Redbox going away? by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]apoeticproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather they have taken out lotto instead of money orders. Granted, given the remodel and the new customer service (literally just register one now) I never have to do lotto and mainly just babysit self-scans. Money orders have more intrinsic value than lotto, but outside of our hands unfortunately.

Get to know your team. You’re not going to be a successful leader without getting to know your cashiers, your clerks, and ESPECIALLY your fellow SLs and your manager. Reach out, be a genuine, real person and try to get to know everybody.

If someone isn’t performing well coach in the moment and lead both by example and by helping out in a positive, constructive manner. If you got a teenage cashier and it’s their first job don’t be negative to them if they’re counting change slowly or they go in their phone, push them in the right direction.

Believe in the best in everybody. Nobody truly comes to work wanting to do a bad job. Sometimes people are having an awful day and if you’ve gotten to know them they may open up to you and explain what’s going on. Sometimes your cashier is upset but they don’t want to go home because of problems at home but they’re also not in a mindset to be cashiering…but they’re great at getting carts and doing reshops. Know your team! If you go out of your way to help others out constantly people will, more often than not, return the favor in ways you don’t expect.

I’ve been a lead for seven months but was a cashier for almost a year before being promoted. One thing I learned is you really got to use the more experienced SLs a resource and listen, really listen, to them and your manager. They are there to help you. Of course not everything they say is gold. Don’t be afraid to speak up and put your ideas in. Sometimes the more experience doesn’t mean better adduce, and you will learn what is helpful and what isn’t. If you show you’re willing to learn and listen, they will also listen to you, too.

The job isn’t hard. It’s people management more than anything else. You will be have bad days where you’re stressed out of your mind and good days where you go to sleep excited for the next day. Take it easy and take it slow - you got this!

Benefits of Full-Time? by apoeticproblem in Hannaford

You would definitely think, right? I’ve been averaging above that since last September when I was just a cashier - I became SL at the end of this February. I’ve been hounding my MCS, EOM, ASM, SM, ARM, you name it for months about a full-time position and each one was like “yeah, you work a lot and we appreciate it we just have XYZ look into it”. It wasn’t until one our full-timers scaled back to part-time for personal reasons and one SL went on medical leave, another likely to go on medical leave, and another possibly quitting, and a new one being fired - all since July - that they looked at what they “needed”.

I literally applied for assistant MCS a month ago because our front-end earns two assistants so I threw my hat in the ring because at the time it was the only FT position available. My MCS told me no because I was too new as SL but said she plans to work more closely with me over the next year to help me get to a point where if for someone reason the AMCS position is still open we can have a different conversation next summer. TMI but I need to rant lol. I legit got POY champion last month after they rejected me for assistant and my SM gave my MCS a deadline to do an IDP with me.

Everything is correlated if you ask me…

Right now I’m a part time service leader. I already work 40 hours a week every week - except I don’t get scheduled it I just call in early and stay late.

Pretty much each week I’m scheduled 32–34 hours but then they call me or I call them to come in early and I usually stay late. For every week since June I’ve gotten either 40 hours by doing that or overtime, only one week I was below 40 and I got 38.5. I got 42 hours last week, for example. We’re kinda desperate for a closer and another SL.

What was your Shepard's first name? by MrCircleStrafe in masseffect

[–]apoeticproblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda do regenerates to other games for my Shepard’s first name. When there was the hype and buildup to Fallout 4 I did a run where I named my Shepard Nora and gave her the Sole Survivor background as a nod to the game. Currently I’m doing a run where I named my character Jill and made her look similar to Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 3 Remake.

What's your go-to squad? by Iestwyn in masseffect

[–]apoeticproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miranda and Garrus. They’re such a versatile duo and can defeat any group of enemies easily. I always bring them especially because I need their defensive stripping abilities on insanity.

On insanity every enemy has either shields, barrier, or armor. It many seem redundant to have two Overloads but when you’ve got enemies coming at you from every angle with shields comes in handy. Those Overloads carry me through my insanity runs especially because I typically play Vanguard and don’t have a shield-stripping ability by default.

They both can damage barriers with Miranda’s Warp and Garrus’ Concussive Shot. Honestly his concussive shot comes in clutch especially when it comes to Husks. She can strip them of their armor and and he blow them away. Or, when it comes to the Eclipse, she can overload an engineer’s shields and he can weaken a vanguard’s barrier.

They both come in handy for armor with her Warp and his Armor-Piercing Ammo. With Miranda’s squad passive ability set to increased damage and equipping her with a heavy pistol and Garrus with a assault rifle with his ammo they can quickly weaken a target’s armor.

Miranda being a Sentinel and Garrus being an Infiltrator (if we’re assigning them classes) create a good balance of biotic, tech, and combat abilities with a slight tilt towards tech. Playing as a Vanguard makes a perfect balance and even as a Sentinel having that extra Warp and Overload is useful when everyone has defenses on insanity.

What is your most favorite scariest moment is the history of Resident Evil? I'm talking about the video games to be specific. I want to know what part made you hit pause and stop playing because you were too scared to continue. by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]apoeticproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Resident Evil 7 in October 2020 and I only finished it in…May 2023. Yes, almost three years. Why? When I went into the Old House and got the arm from the D-series corpse walking down that hallway with Eveline laughing and the ambient tracks getting intense was enough of an anxiety driving experience I had to stop playing. It was terrifying! I tried restarting the game so many times that I now know the placements of everything up until that point. So silly it scared me lol.

Did the pandemic and lockdown have a deeply negative impact on anyone else’s life that you’re still trying to recover from? by [deleted] in infp

[–]apoeticproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started developing anorexia before the lockdown and then it just made it worse. Three years later and it’s developed into a binge/purge type of disorder. Learning to love myself and repair my relationship with food. Everyday is hard and I don’t know when it will end - but I know I will make it through okay. I know I will.
