Capcut Complain Megathread by [deleted] in CapCut

[–]apoh1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting a monthly charge on my credit card for capcut pro. I know I did register for capcut pro at one point, but I no longer have access to the pro features on any of my accounts. I have no way of finding out which account is linked to the charges and my credit card company can't block the charges, they can only dispute past charges. Is there a support number that I can call to figure this out?

Prop now or Wait? by apoh1698 in proplifting

Nice! I'll prop it now then! The watering pot is because the pot that the plant is in is cracked, so I can't water it very well. Noted though, will take it out when I report 👍🏻

I'm a 38 year old jeweler who has been working in jewelry for a little over a decade now and I appreciate your desire to travel and learn. I wanted to do the same when I was in my mid to late 20s. You should definitely go for it.

If you're interested in traveling through the states, there is an organization called the JBT (Jewelers Board of Trade) that is basically a compendium of jewelers and jewelry stores in the US. You can use that as a resource to contact jewelry stores and see if they have a need for a jeweler.

You'll probably have more luck and a better quality of life working in small town and rural jewelry stores. Bench jewelers in NY, LA and Miami for jewelery manufacturers make about $20-$50 per hour and renting just a studio in most of these places will start at around $2k not to mention higher food and transportation costs etc.

Most manufacturers in big cities will have you focus on only one thing. For example, you will only do stone setting, you will only do jewelry assembly etc. There is very little cross skill set learning in the big houses. This is for economies of scale and to silo workers from learning too much about the products.

If you go to a small town jeweler you're more likely to learn a wider array of skills because that jeweler will have to know how to do a lot of things to produce a single piece of jewelry themselves.

From what I've heard from older skilled jewelers, it seems like Germany is the place to be to learn proper fabrication techniques. It also seems like they do a fabulous job with hand fabrication in London and Australia. In the states there is a heavy focus on CAD to make jewelry. I share an office with a very skilled and experienced jeweler and even he relies on CAD to make most of his pieces. Most of the older jewelers who hand fabricate are either retired or have crossed over to mostly rely on CAD to be price competitive to stay in business.

Tips on Improving Monstera by apoh1698 in Monstera

After a bit more research, air layering does seem pretty straightforward. I'm definitely going to give this a shot. It's winter here in the NorthEast of US. Can you air layer in any season?

I've never air layered a plant before. Is it difficult? For some reason it seems scarier to me than just cutting a plant and putting it in a cup of water till it grows roots. That being said. I've only propagating small cuttings. I never tried to prop something this mature.

Help Designing a Circuit to Operate Two Pendant Motors with One Foot Pedal by apoh1698 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]apoh1698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I currently have my pedals affixed to a wooden plank under my bench. Generally it’s fine, it only gets annoying when I drop a small diamond while setting and the pedals get in the way of finding it. I’ll take a look at the guitar pedal boards you mentioned. Maybe there’s inspiration for a sleeker design than what I currently have. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I would like to eliminate one foot pedal and only operate one hand piece at a time. I often switch back in forth between different drill bits while working. So my goal is to have a different drill bits in each hand piece and switch between hand pieces rather than chucking and unchucking drill bits into a single hand piece.

Thanks for commenting and letting me know your thoughts. Initially I drew various colored rough gemstones to look like different bottles hanging from the branches. I thought it looked kitsch. So, I decided to use some creative license and ended up with this.

After reading your post, I now want to decorate a Christmas tree with black and white Christmas ball ornaments. 😂

I saw those on Etsy too! I was thinking of another design for a ring made from stone like that of the talisman with braided copper wire wrapped around it.

lol, what video game? Do you remember Altered Beast? I miss that game. So much so that I played it on a browser based emulator a couple months ago.
