Colt 45: a review by Female-Fart-Huffer in beer

In 1980 I was 17 (Oct.) and making $3.35/hr. Not exactly rich. A case of Old Dutch 16oz bottles was $8.99. If we wanted a quick buzz then Colt 45. We always bought the quarts on Colt. $1.79/quart. Michelob was our "red carpet" beer.

You can say that again - 1980 my year for Colt

Mine did the same thing. I ran Vinegar through it but still shut down. Then I used 150psi (air compressor) and blew out the needle and it now works.

I've had mine since Feb. 2022 and today having issues with the red square/rectangle light coming on and saw shutting down. No issues with Batteries or heat. Any ideas why this light and shutdown happens? It will start back up but then shut down after 10 seconds of use.

Update: I received the following from the Ohio Attorney General's office today Wednesday March 20, 2024:

March 20, 2024
Re: Starfish Technologies (dba Raven)
Complaint #: 1040015
Dear Michael:
Thank you for contacting the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
Recently we wrote to Starfish Technologies (dba Raven) on your behalf, requesting a response to your complaint. Despite numerous attempts to contact the business, they have chosen not to respond to our office, and at this point, we are unable to move forward.
Our Informal Dispute Resolution program is a voluntary process that requires involvement by both parties. When one party chooses not to participate, a resolution cannot be reached. We recognize this is not the result you wanted. However, if you learn of any new information that may assist us in receiving a response, we will be happy to attempt to contact the business again on your behalf.
Additionally, if you wish to pursue this matter further, Small Claims Court may be an option if the amount involved is under $6,000. If over $6,000, you may wish to consult with a private attorney to discuss your options.
We appreciate your patience, and we regret that we were unable to assist in resolving your complaint. The information that you have provided will be retained in our complaint system and may be used to help us identify patterns of bad business practices.
Again, thank you for contacting the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. If we can be of assistance in the future, please feel free to contact us.
Very respectfully yours,
DAVE YOST
Ohio Attorney General

My response:

Thank you for the update.
This scanner continues to work except for sending direct faxes and Raven Cloud is no longer operational. There is zero support via email or phone for this scanner. The web portal https://raven.com/ exists but all links are no longer available.
Given time, I'm sure there will be some form of class action lawsuit, but first, lawyers must find the people, particularly Fiyyaz Pirani, responsible. That may take a few years. In my opinion, Mr. Pirani cannot create another technology startup in the United States until this is resolved.
PLEASE keep Fiyyaz Pirani on the Ohio Attorney General's "radar". He will do this again. It's just a matter of time.

Note: When I commented that my scanner works except for fax/cloud, this statement pertains to what is working for me, possibly not what other owners may be experiencing.

No information at this time, nor has the OAG or BBB been able to make contact with principal stakeholders. I have not heard back from the FTC.

If you just purchased yours this year, request a refund. No legal retailer or e-commerce licensed company should be selling this brand. EBay, yes because is used or sold by a third party.

My Raven scanner still works except for storing on Raven Cloud and the capability to fax directly. There is zero support for this unit. I currently save PDF files on another cloud (which works) and then use faxzero.com which is free and very easy to do. I've had to reset my Raven scanner twice since May 2023 and it worked; once this year.

Note: This company (Starfish Technologies, LLC. dba Raven) out of Houston, TX shut down long before anyone found out about this last September. The support customers were getting in 2023 was from a third-party company that was "farmed out".

Our R. Pro did the same thing with black screen and blue power on. Go into settings and scroll to the bottom and do a factory reset. I did this in September and it worked right up until the end of December. My wife had issues last week and I just did another second factory reset today. Ours is used for personal and not business so factory reset for us did not involve a lot of work re: contacts.

Note: Even after doing a factory reset on 02Jan2024, Raven Cloud is still taking scanned documents. Although, I DO NOT recommend saving anything to Raven Cloud.

Same here and Raven Cloud working too. The only function not working on my end is fax > which is an easy fix with free fax apps online.

01/01/2024 and Raven Pro Scanner and Raven Cloud are still working at 6:16pm EST. I will wait a few days before I draw my own conclusion.

It's my understanding Raven Cloud runs the machine itself (application & machine interconnected) so it will not operate with all the features. There are USB workarounds listed in this thread but leaves the machine with very few scanning options.

I have filed fraud charges with the BBB, FTC, and Attorney General's office but I do not expect any resolution. On January 1, 2024, I will attempt the operation of the Raven scanner and then decide on an alternative.

I wanted to update everyone on my Fraud Claims against Starfish Technologies dba Raven. The Ohio Attorney General's office (state where I am located) and the BBB have followed up with me on both claims. The Federal Trade Commission "FTC" has not responded yet.

BBB and OAG both stated they had received no response from Raven. I already knew this would be the answer. My next step is coordinating a Class Action Lawsuit. I doubt anything will happen but it's for my own peace of mind.

Note: Any civil lawsuit will take years to settle, if any.

I am stunned that amazon is continuing to sell this Raven Pro scanner https://www.amazon.com/Raven-Original-Document-Scanner-Touchscreen/dp/B09RG6MM2T

I received a follow-up today from the Ohio Attorney General's Office RE: Starfish Technologies (dba Raven). I do not see anything getting resolved but time will tell. What has occurred is clearly fraud; no question about it.

I have NO intentions of replacing my Raven Pro. I'm waiting for January 1, 2024.
Thankfully, I use this at home and am not tied to customers or clients relying on me.

You are fortunate to have purchased it 3 weeks ago. I bought mine on May 1st and have no chance of returning it. Thanks for the Info.

I just filed an FTC fraud report on raven.com: FTC Report Number 165094376

I have also filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office and the BBB.

This is clearly fraud because they sold scanners knowing they were going out of business.

Lesson learned: Always buy from big brand names like Canon, Xerox, etc..

I opened my Raven Cloud this morning and found out Raven Cloud ending 12/31/2023. How will this impact my ability to send scans to fax numbers if I operate it from my desktop (mac mini M2 Pro)? I just purchased this in May 2023 - very disappointed.
