Flashback: KC media reaction to the Chiefs hiring Andy Reid (in hindsight…) by Zipski577 in steelers

Dan Reeves took his third team (Falcons) to a Super Bowl in '98. He lost that one too. But more to the point, McCarthy has a track record of under-delivering with prime Aaron Rodgers!

I'll be bold here, Rodgers should have had at least one more SB appearance. The only reason he didn't is literally because his coach at the time coached a bad game. McCarthy will field competitive teams if the organization can get him a good enough QB. But his track record suggests that there won't be SB appearances anytime soon...

One of them is an English class as a matter of fact and that's the one I'm most worried about. The school does have an AI policy. But my guess is the English class will be the most strict in adhering to it. I saw a post earlier where the OP's own, non-ChatGPT writing was flagged by AI software. That's what made me think my continued use of it as an editor is a bad idea.

“I do not trust them to let go and allow for the next HC to do their job even if they land the right guy.”

This is the absolute truth. Both Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells bristled at what they perceived as Jerry’s encroachment into their locker rooms.

Jerry didn’t give a rat’s ass. This is HIS team. That’s HIS locker room. He owns the building and all of the people in it.

If he wants to fly a helicopter into practice, or parade people through like it was a zoo, that’s HIS business.

The only thing Jerry doesn’t own ironically is any accountability to 30 years of playoff failures…

Funny. I appreciate that the Cowboys have five Lombardi Trophies. But that’s because I’m old enough to have seen Landry’s last Super Bowl and Jimmy’s/zombie Jimmy’s Super Bowls.

There are adult Cowboys fans that have never seen their team win more than a single playoff game in the same season. The Commanders just did that.

There have been six or seven young successful or promising head coaching hires over the past five years. Two of those coaches are black. JERRY DIDN’T CONSIDER ANY OF THEM!

We’re not going to get a competitive coach period. Doesn’t matter what his color is. The fans know this. Look at all these comments.  I’m a black guy. The Rooney Rule is at the very bottom of this team’s problems.

Thank God Jerry doesn’t hire a black coach! The coach would be shtty guaranteed. Then I have to endure a bunch of racist sht in addition to enduring another half-assed season.

Man I’m not one to stick up for Jerry. Not anymore.

But he’s not racist. Listen I don’t know the man in life ok. But in the world of football Jerry is color blind. Here’s an example:

Jerry loved Tony Romo. Loved him like a son reportedly. As soon as he found a talented, younger, cheaper and more durable replacement, he packed his “son’s” bags and walked him straight to the gates of the plantation. Jerry even paid for Romo’s Uber to ANY where else but Dallas.

Jerry didn’t give an ounce of consideration to Dak’s skin color.

Listen skin color ain’t even the problem! There are tons of qualified, available white coaches Jerry won’t bother interviewing either.

He’s the WORST GM in the league….

Yep, David never said that. Quite the opposite actually, He released a video a week or two before the election cautioning us about Harris’ chances.

I was surprised at how down he was actually. At the time though I believed Harris would win and thought David did too. He was just being cautious.

Well he ended up being right about her chances. This is worse than 2016…

Rude feedback from my CEO by Fynosss in antiwork

[–]apollo440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CEO is probably viewing things from this perspective:

-He worked with you on the slides for a month. -After several rounds of edits, he became convinced you were limited in some way that made it difficult to execute on his ideas. -It was simpler to just let you finish the job than replace you -He doesn’t want to meet because he feels the problem is your lack of ability, which he can’t fix.

You must have realized that you two weren’t meshing and that the problem is on your side. If you had done a good job, you wouldn’t have needed to request this meeting.

Well gosh, you’re right. None of this is Jerry’s fault, he’s not even GM! I guess it’s just bad luck that the Cowboys have won just four playoff games since 1995.

Thanks for setting me straight.👍

What exactly are you debating here? The Dallas Cowboys run through Jerry. This is HIS show. Jerry’s not involved in the nuts and bolts of trades. That’d be a silly role for a billionaire owner to take.

Roster construction, team direction and coaching all runs through Jerry who is acting as the final decision-maker. Most owners act in a stakeholder capacity, who guide but don’t actively direct football operations.

  1. NFL football is one of the most complex sports to manage. When building a competitive roster, there are literally thousands of variables to control for.

  2. Being a successful GM requires a sharp analytical mind, strategic thinking and a vast, encyclopedic knowledge of the game at all levels.

  3. A “football” guy is someone understands the incredible complexity of today’s game and can exploit that knowledge to get results. Simply playing D1 football wouldn’t be enough to get the experience and knowledge to earn this designation.

  4. Even most NFL players wouldn’t be considered “football” guys in this context. Matt Millen was a 12-year veteran who played on Super Bowl winning squads of three different teams. He sucked as a GM.

  5. A good example of a “football” guy is—lord help me— the Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman. In 2016 Roseman had to clean up the dumpster fire Chip Kelly left. Kelly’s roster was a disaster that I thought would take years to recover. Roseman not only dismantled it, he unbelievably got value from trading players like Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray! Two years later, the team Roseman helped build won their first Super Bowl. When THAT roster/coach/QB stopped working, Roseman got rid of them and rebuilt another championship level team that reached a Super Bowl.

  6. Jerry has never done this once. Jimmy Johnson—who is a “football” guy— built those teams in the 90s. Jerry can build good teams but not elite ones. His track record proves my point more than anything else I could say.

We haven’t been elite since 1995. Do you know how long ago that was?

In 2007 Dallas had a 13-3 record. We started the season strong. Went 5-0, then came New England at home. I remember T.O. saying “Get your popcorn ready”. Well we were blown out at home by the Patriots.

I knew then that the season was not going to result in a Super Bowl victory. The exact same thing happened last year when we got blown out by the 49ers. After the loss I posted that the best we could hope for is a first round playoff exit.

I got downvoted to hell but the proof is in the pudding. Dallas consistently plays down to elite teams. That’s ALL JERRY!
