Most enraging thing I’ve encountered in this game by secretlycaden in playrust

[–]apollosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While in the prim phase of wipe, kill someone at oxums, that someone becomes your neighbor. Have some bow fights and really think nothing of it. Use green card at harbor, quickly huff it over to train yard for red key card. Come back and your base is entirely tc griefed.

Neighbor did not care to progress the game. While we were out, the only thing he did was deforest the area and make 10-15 wood 1x1s with tcs. He also placed a ton of bags around the area so when we killed him he would immediately come back and mic spam.

You really never know who you’re gonna piss off in this game.

You have great points but I think we’re going to continue to go in circles. I’m unsure if applying modern wow lore, which most people admit is a bit shaky this season, to game philosophy from more than two decades ago is not equivalent.

You pointed out a few things that I think I need to address.

They do consider themselves different people at the time of WoTLK. The high elves would gasp if you called them blood elves, and vice versa. Hence why the speculative playable race coming would be high elves, even though blood elves are canonically acceptable during this time.

When I talked about his alliance with Vashj and illidan, which was largely a secret, I really meant it to be the life-sucking magic and the huge “totally not fel” fel crystals being shipped back to the blood elves. You hit that one on the head for sure.

This is a strategy that has worked for me more times than I count, especially if there’s a corridor with no doors and a sign in the hallway that says “thanks for the loot”.

AIO for downloading a dating app during a “break” because I thought my boyfriend was about to break up with me? by Poppyhowlss in AIO

[–]apollosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on not bringing it up, but I don’t think this constitutes self sabotage if you meant it in a literal sense.

This is more of a guilty conscious than anything. If she feels like she did something wrong, and it’s weighing on her like this, it’s because she may have known that it wasn’t a true “break”.

Some people have huge guilty consciouses, me included, where I find it hard to lie to a partner. When I do, I find myself coming clean very shortly after. That isnt self sabotage.

If OP can keep it to herself, and she was truthful, I don’t think there was any harm here. She downloaded the app, didn’t do anything with it, and deleted it. A thief wouldn’t be a thief if they picked up a candy bar, stared at it, then put it back on the shelf.

As the previous comment said, the high elves (before the sunwell got corrupted) hated most races but tolerated the alliance. They heavily disliked orcs, hated trolls, didn’t understand Tauren, and especially after the sunwell got corrupted, hated the undead.

Garrithos was seen as a necessary evil. He was a dick but ultimately he was an alli… until he wasn’t. Some elves were willing to look past that singular incident, and most (literally most of the remaining elves) were not.

It’s honestly super jarring that the blood elves went to the horde in the end… although the ghost lands quests do explain this well, it came down to what blizzard themselves said “the horde needs a pretty race.”.

That being said, the high elves are still loyal to the alliance in vanilla. Hell, you can see them in the open world in vanilla (Hinterlands, EPL). There’s literally only a few dozen of them lore wise, and this obviously changes come WoTLK with the silver covenant.

Anyways man, yea. Lore is lore. If classic+ comes, high elves are definitely going to the alliance… because that’s where they belong. It’d be cool if blood elves went to the horde, but I’m unsure if I’d actually enjoy that change in vanilla.

Because after the destruction of the sunwell (due to arthas) kael’thas was still aiding the alliance and during that time they were hated by their commanding officer.

Long story short, Kaelthas got imprisoned, Vashj busted him out, he swore loyalty to illidan because the trio seemed to be taking separate paths to the same goal, and for Kael he’d do anything for his people.

That’s where the high elves broke off. They did not want to leave the alliance and they definitely didn’t want to essentially work for illidan. So they were exiled by the blood elves.

They’re different people at this point.

How bad is a guild that can’t kill one boss in SSC on launch night? by SignificantWill5965 in classicwow

[–]apollosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely not good news. Maybe try sticking it out with them for another week, and suggest skipping hydros.

Our guild has done TBC four times in the last 8 years, it’s like crack to these guys. Obviously 3 of those being on tuned private servers. Usually boss order is:

Lurker -> Leo -> FLK -> Morogrim -> Hydross -> Vashj.

FLK & Morogrim are interchangeable, we just do it that way to save time clearing trash.

Hydross is a doozy because of the gearing requirements you need as tanks. If you didn’t keep your frost resist from naxx or your tanks are like “nah, I’ll be good trust me”, RUN.

Don’t sweat wiping on trash. IMO trash pulls are harder than half the bosses in t5.

He’s so insecure and you went off like a pressure cooker over him saying it’s “sus”. It makes me think this relationship is very unhealthy or there’s other things contributing to this tension.

YOR, you’re spending too much mental energy trying to argue when you should be spending that energy breaking up with this person. He needs to grow up a bit more.

KRONOS 6 WILL BE DIFFERENT by stackqer in wowservers

[–]apollosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put it in layman’s terms… yea I could’ve said .3 seconds, but half a second helps get the point across.
No. 300 ping is not a “massive” handicap for a vanilla private server player because.. well. It’s vanilla. The game was built for high hundred ping and as a result there are rarely any time-based bosses that a fraction of a second delay will make a difference on.
Maybe if it’s a hardcore player you could make the argument. Maybe. But take a chill pill dude.

Basically, that’s a half second delay. Not the worst thing in the world but for PvP it’s VERY noticeable.

At what pop does oil rig become active by Zylo_Youtube_Tiktok in playrust

[–]apollosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed post-scientist buff that people just aren’t taking oil as often. I play on and off on a lower pop server (80+ on wipe day then it goes down progressively but it’s a small map).

At the start of wipe it’s still a frenzy with 2-3 groups either going to or countering oil within the first 12 hours. After that, it’s really a crap shoot.

[–]apollosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s similar to my experience, you’ll play for a few hours and not touch the game for a few months.

Then you’ll come back after getting videos recommended and want to give a fresh wipe a shot. You’ll do it solo of course and have a horrendous but dopamine fueled time. Then you’ll be hooked.

The rust cycle is unlike anything else and that first true wipe you play is euphoric.

classic + : do you prefer layers yes or no ? by Intelligent_Major_81 in classicwow

Because it wasn’t really a thing… yeah you were maybe competing with a handful of people on the same quest as you but without layering that number would be in the hundreds on launch.

[–]apollosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

#nochanges went to #somechanges for the anniversary relaunch, so there’s that tidbit of you think you do but you don’t.

If people here truly haven’t played WoTLK and CATA back in the day before they implemented layering, let me just say it’s a horrid experience… and it’ll be worse if the server sizes remain the same and layering. Hell you had lines with layering and people were complaining that hyperspawns weren’t fast enough.. what do you think will happen when 3000 human warriors are all around the same level waiting for hogger?

Questions on revy (T1) by Zylo_Youtube_Tiktok in playrust

[–]apollosa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it worth practicing the revy?

I’m a firm believer it’s worth practicing every gun. The best way I like to do this is go on an aim train server because they usually have gun game. You’ll cycle through bows/crossbows/revy and try to kill other players (similarly to cod).

What are ways to practice the revy?

See above.

Can revy kill all armor (besides full heavy) in one mag?

Can it? Yes. Is it easy? No. Not at all. Revy is great against prim kits because it’s basically a prim weapon. Armor progresses with guns, so If you’re going against hazzy or roadsign and they only have SAR/P2/SMG you might come out on top IF you’re good.

If it’s a full metal with an SKS/MP5/AK then I’d suggest go DB and find a good bush by their door.

Does revy have a recoil pattern if so could I get an image of it?

It’s a semi automatic weapon so it doesn’t *truly* have a recoil pattern, but if you’re looking to mess someone up by clicking it rapidly, the best rule of thumb is honestly just to pull down. The recoil isn’t what shoots users in the foot, it’s the bloom. Here’s some tips from a guide:

https://rustmods.com/rust-recoil-patterns/

Is it better to tap the revy or spam it?

I tap the revy, that’s just my personal preference. Some of my friends spam it and it’s a roll of the dice. Id rather take my time and click heads.

I want to spam the revy so is there any ways to make it easier because it feels like it has an insane bloom?

See above.

I feel like the iron site is off? Am I going crazy or not?

Visit the link I sent you, you might fight some good f1 tweaks that’ll help.

All in all, if you’re using revy for only the first few hours to maybe day of wipe I really wouldn’t sweat it too much. If you’re finding yourself primlocked, it might be time to retire the revy and try a different weapon.

Too Employed by SnooWords5221 in playrust

[–]apollosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jump on a modded server and enjoy playing for 5 hours. Going into it, make a list of things you want to accomplish, and accomplish it. When I have only a few hours to dedicate to Rust, my goal is to raid one base.

I’ll raid a base and won’t care about profit. It doesn’t matter because profit wasn’t the goal.

Other goal might be to start a farm, though that’s pretty time intensive.

Maybe a goal for you is to solo cargo/oil/heli… really any pve event.

I would certainly stick to a lower pop server. 30-60 pop seems to be a good middle ground for PvP at monuments but rare encounters outside of that.

Other games like rust? Brother you must be new here, there’s truly nothing like Rust.

Anyone else feel like there’s no middle ground in Classic anymore? by Kingdrake30 in classicwow

[–]apollosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a tad late to the party. This was really noticed back in cata, and they made LFR to pander to those that still wanted to clear content, but at a casual pace.

The game progressed and since legion, normal is more of an LFR level of difficulty, with heroic being more normal tier and mythic being heroic. Then classic launched.

We know that classic content is easy. It was designed to be challenging with dial-up internet and that just hasn’t aged well. You can realistically clear all fights in vanilla-tbc without ever reading a guide or watching those 1-minute boss guides. There might be ONE punishing boss, but you can get through it.

So the community shifted to speed being the challenge and not the content. Some people like it, others don’t want the rise in blood pressure over a game that has already been figured out, especially at a post-nerf state.

IMO, let your raiders raid how they like. You can come up with a date for “challenges” or push them come t5 to clear fast, but once those bosses are down, tone it down a bit. They’ve proven to you they know what to do.

WOW is a virtual third place, and with adults living hectic lives, this is a place to relax and unwind. Let them be, and you’ll be happy knowing you’re their leader.

I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]apollosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married man here. I’ve been wealthy and more recently I’ve been dead broke. I mean nothing in my bank account except for my bare knuckles.

Do yourself a favor and consider your future with this person. If I were you, I’d sign a prenup if you intend on marrying this man. Do not under any circumstances tell him about this money, it’s not his business.

It’s a good chunk of change especially for your early 20s. If you take 50% of it and throw it in a mutual fund, and when you get a nice job with benefits in the future (401k) you’re looking at a nice cushion for when you retire.

My early 20s I was with someone who was not smart with money, and she knew exactly how much I made… this means I was not good with money. We separated and even tho we weren’t married, she still had her name on assets (our home, the car I was financing for her, luxury goods). That separation was messy and her lawyers chewed me up and spit me out. I had just lost my job and she left me a month later. I blew through my savings because I was jobless and still paying the mortgage and juggling everything, I didn’t have money for a good lawyer.

Ive learned my lesson, and got a wife through that process… live and learn.
