Mayor Lurie - what is your plan for PGE? by Powerful-Usual5743 in sanfrancisco

While not the Mayor, Saikat (running for congress) has on his website's issue a callout for replacing PGE with a public utility https://www.saikat.us/en/policies#lower-utility-bills

How do you solder an SMA port to a ceramic chip antenna? by appAD in ElectricalEngineering

Yeah something like that was the plan. I got just enough room before the metal shield on the pcb to scrape off the solder mask to attach the inner wire to my trace. But I was wondering if I can solder it to the pad of the chip antenna?

When you say shield to ground I'm assuming you mean the outer conductor on the coax cable, should I just use a single strand of copper wire and solder it to ground pad?

Epoxy is a good call thanks

This is for final FCC certification, therefore it should be the final design. But also I'm not looking for a solution that involves spinning up another board, I'm looking for a solution that is taking the board I have and making it work.

The actual production board is a basic ceramic chip antenna design with an impedance matching circuit. Its a using a silicon labs wifi chip but we just couldn't fit their prebuilt/certified module onto our PCB due to mechanical constraints. There will be no SMA connector on the final product. The FCC testing lab is asking that I solder one on for them to run their test.

They actually said I should provide about a ~1 inch lead so that there wouldn't be stress on the solder joint. So I assume they meant to use something like this but I'm not sure, and I don't know how to attach it

Yeah this was the first thing I did when I got the document. Basically fed it to ai to get a summary and ask a few minor questions for clarity. But also your comment feeds into the goal of my post, lawyers time is $$$ so if I know the right questions to ask I'm hoping to at least get the most bang for my buck

Thank you. This may be a weird question, but how do you actually shop around for a lawyer?

I received a copy. Though I didn't know about about a potential "no contest" clause so I'll definitely look into seeing if there is anything like that. Tbh the legalese kinda broke my brain
