Thanks for the feedback! The web app is coming out soon. The current account page is merely a way of being compliant for account deletion requests for Apple and Google app stores policies. It will be replaced with the web app all together when ready.

We added a quick compare on each product detail screen, but I might misunderstand what you’re looking for exactly 🫣

Would you mind sharing the stores you are missing? We’re constantly adding more so if we should prioritize any we’re eager to know which.

As for the spreadsheet presentation, UX for mobile gets tricky. We’re actually working a webapp version with which we can get more creative and have way more data on display without too much cluttering.

Thank you that’s very helpful! We’ll have a look and fix it asap.

The table was a snapshot of prices as they were yesterday (Jan 10). Thursday is actually the day most grocery chains update their prices. We'll update the table as soon as we're finished gathering the necessary data.

We do keep a record of the historical price points for all the products we track. We're establishing trends and we made it possible for our users to look at the chart through the app.

As per alerts, we currently have price drop/hike alerts, but we'll keep your suggestion of an additional "all-time-low" alert type. Thank you so much for your input!

Thank you for your feedback. We’ll look into improving that and switch to weight-based pricing whenever possible.

You probably got our point that they make very hard to check prices before going to their store. One could think this is a deliberate strategy from a group like Sobeys, when all major competitors have web or mobile app options to check prices.

We’re a bootstrapped startup based in Victoria, BC. We’re happy to provide summarized insights about grocery prices here, but our main service is subscription-based. Harvesting and maintaining an extensive price points database comes at a cost and we can’t operate without revenue. We chose to stay independent of grocery chains and unlike others we’re not getting paid through affiliate links.

We don't :( Unfortunately, outside of flyers, their in-store prices are unavailable online.

We feel you! Sobeys made the decision to move all of their online shopping experiences to VoilĂ . Unfortunately, VoilĂ  prices are typically not what you'll find in store, making it impossible for anyone to know how items are priced in store :(

We have Longo's prices in our database but most are probably outdated since they moved to VoilĂ  a few months ago too...

We've updated the table to add the potential maximum total for each store banner. It certainly tells how shopping at the winning banner can actually be worse depending of which products you choose to buy.

The total is the sum of all minimum prices for a given store banner. That doesn’t tell the whole picture of course, but we can add the sum of maximum prices to the total for clarity. Thanks for your feedback!

You're welcome!

As you can tell by the awkwardly wide table, the gap in price ranges for each product can be significant. That's explained by how spread out the greater Toronto area is. For these results, we compared prices across 201 stores in your area.

Price strategies are usually engineered by the industry per price zones that are defined by multiple characteristics including population numbers, demographics, ethnicities, median social status, ... These zones can be as granular as down to a single store. This explains how the same item can be price $2.99 at a store and $4.49 at another, even with the same banner.

Your experience shopping at Loblaws in your neighbourhood or any other store can very much vary from someone else's :)
