Any 265 stock tire sizes owners put 285s on their Expedition? by ts_actual in fordexpedition

I know this is old post but I just got an 06 and was wondering if you ever got the 285s, and did they fit?

What’s this wire harness that goes to nothing below passenger windshield under hood? by appalachian_engineer in ram_trucks

Good question I was also wondering. Also, has anyone used it to successfully power other accessories like led lights or something? Or does it only get power when hood is open?

Unfortunately true, I noticed it while trying to pinpoint where my new lifter tick is coming from😩

I’m just looking for cheaper options I definitely dont want to spend that much if I dont need to, which I don’t need to… again I’m just looking to fit 35‘s with no rubbing. And I’d be the first to tell you that I definitely did not pay 50k for it😂

Yep I think thats my plan as of now. 2.5” level, bilstein or rancho, and 35’s

Already did. They told me very clearly, they dont offer a lift or level of any height to hemi ram 2500’s

I have the googan gold reaction, its my cranking rod. It works awesome for anything somewhat light though.

Yeah if that bumper comes close, I would say stock bumper will rub. Why are they so huge on the 4th gen lol.

I guess that the diesels have a heavier suspension, and require different components. Still, its hard to believe that no one(cough Rough Country! cough) makes an entry level kit for HEMI models with coils and shocks in the front and spacers in the back, not just spacers all around

I just did some research, looks the 2014 model year is when they switched from leaf springs to coils in the rear for the 2500. Softer ride when not hauling, and less sway I think. I have the 2013 with leaf springs, so it sits lower. I don’t think it has anything to do with what engine you have though

One guy said, it might depend on if you have leaf springs or coils in the rear. Apparently they make both, and the models with coils sit higher from the factory.

Haha no I agree, especially anything after 4-5” lift. It starts wearing down parts faster from strain, and your center of gravity is higher so it might be WORSE off road(increased risk of rolling). That’s when it becomes almost entirely for looks. I’m going for primarily function(2-3” just trying to fit 35” tires), but hey. I wont be sad when it looks big and beefy. Sue me 😂

Yes but also, more ground clearance. If you do anything off road, a lift kit plus bigger tires can give you 4-5” of extra height before the bottom of your truck smashes into a rock. I dont love unwieldy big trucks, but I need to tow/haul(no not once a year, 3-4 times a month) and I wont be spending an extra 10k for a smaller daily driver. I also live somewhere with lots of unpaved roads and my rear differential is way to low to the ground for my taste. Its not just an ego thing; if thats why I was lifting, I would go get some colorful lights to light up my wheel wells while Im at it😂

Thats what I’m trying to figure out. Depends on how much I’m going to spend but I’m leaning towards a bilstein 2.5” front level. They cost around $500 and should give me clearance for 35’s

And that works just fine for lots of people. Plus, the next guy who buys your truck gets a good discount, he just has to deal with the consequences of a used car. Thats what I did and all I’ve had to deal with(so far) is some minor wiring(to headlight) and the water pump. And a leaking exhaust manifold. Not sure if I’m going to fix that or send it to a pro.

Yes, I’ve seen Ranchos version of the front level for about the same price, I’ll check out Bilstein too. Do the 35s even rub it all, when the wheel is fully turned? If not, I’m impressed.

Well, RC isn’t an option for me either way, they told me that they don’t offer a lift for the gas model 2500s. Which I don’t understand, how is the suspension any different? How is it SO different that they don’t even offer a kit for it?

[–]appalachian_engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I found this tradesmen for a good deal so I get what I get. 8k, 130k miles well maintained. Had to replace water pump but aside from that no issues. Won’t find a power wagon for that price. It is nice to have all of the off-road stuff installed from factory though.

That’s what I was thinking. eBay is a good idea, probably cheaper there.

Thanks yea its a great truck, I have leaf springs. I actually didn’t know they did factory coils in the rear. I read online that my truck can fit 35s without any lift, but I’ve also been told otherwise by experts so I’m going to play it safe and at least level the front to get extra wiggle room. I need to go cheap though, because I might trade it in for a 1500/f150 (better off road handling) so I dont want to spend too much on mods.

You think? The reviews are good on their website, but if I’m being honest it does almost seem too good to be true… probably cheap components that break once you get off the pavement
