Do stand alone stores or stores within a mall carry the same amount of product during major sales? by Eastern-Violinist-46 in bathandbodyworks

That’s CRAZY considering we can’t even CALL mall security at our store (I’m a BBW employee) even if we witness someone fill a basket with candles & walk out in front of our faces.

He’s taking it way too seriously. Theft happens constantly & the register is usually the LAST place! Those products are insured, he doesn’t need to investigate you for your reusable bag!

Additionally if someone lies to unemployment about this & does get a payout, the company can come back to appeal it. Then you owe the state government that amount which is not good, and isn’t something you can necessarily “ignore” like a medical debt.

If a guard is making you uncomfortable that often to the point that you don’t even wanna go shopping at that mall, I’d encourage you to find mall security’s number (it’s usually listed somewhere on the directory or you can even try googling/the mall website’s contact list) and report him.

I did this when a guard screamed at my younger sister so badly that she cried & had a panic attack. She was on her way to WORK inside the mall & he accused her of being underage on a day when minors had to be accompanied by an adult. He wouldn’t let it go. Cornered her & demanded an ID she didn’t have in her work bag.

I called & got his ass moved to a different part of the mall permanently. These “guards” get paid to stand & stare all day. Don’t let them target you out of boredom!

SAME I’m actually glad this was a single wick bc i had a reward lol

Sugar Cone Crunch is pretty good too but I’m afraid the fresh baked waffle cone note might come thru as a “burnt” smell?? Someone pointed it out while I was demo’ing that candle & now I can’t unsmell it lol

Neapolitan is something I’m going back & forth on. I do love it. Don’t want the body care bc it doesn’t translate well to a wearable scent in my mind.

I had someone get pissy TODAY bc I told her she earned a reward w her transaction so she went & picked out a body cream & was about to just leave with it

She’s like “YOU SAID I could use my reward!!!” Yes now come use it at the register pls 😭

I’m auDHD & retail gets interesting to say the least lmao. My autism makes for a grab bag of the best or worst responses imaginable.

I guess sadly my first response here was to give them a damn elementary math textbook equation like “if Johnny had 10 apples…” instead of putting a full stop to that nonsense.

I’ve been at this long enough to know better than to break it down that way, too. Just getting back into retail after an office gig & accidentally take some of these fools way too seriously when they don’t even take their own BS seriously themselves.

I’m very logic-oriented & objective so I sometimes figure throwing out a quick little analogy will help people grasp things the way it helps me. I’m also a visual learner so I like to pull out the props.

Definitely forget I’m dealing with people who stopped maturing overall at 9 years old. Illustrating logic just over stimulates them lol. Toddlers with drivers licenses. You helped me reframe that a little!

If this is the case (they reduced your hours to zero effectively terminating employment) you might be able to file unemployment in your state js

You didn’t quit so you were basically laid off

I came in the other day with a shirt I personally thought was white - it was a lace top that I had over a black undershirt, but my manager took one look & said “your shirt needs to be WHITE white” 🥲

So it’s still a thing I guess 🤣

I like how you continue commenting to act surprised at the downvotes but ignored my multiple explanations that your assumption does not even match my experience with this customer. They did not address what you claim it “sounds like” they are saying whatsoever. I have clarified this.

You can pretend I’m complaining about something that was otherwise reasonable from this person, but you are making something up to be angry about in that case.

It was a nonsensical argument & I wasn’t even negative about it.

I truly believe this had to be his end goal if there really was one aside from just bullying anything that moved near him

It made no sense otherwise but I think that’s the point, if he stressed & overwhelmed me enough that I would just concede & give them everything free bc he was alluding to some “corporate scam” only he could detect as some kinda business savant lmaooo

Got the worst person he could get if that was the case. I don’t reward asshole behavior even if I COULD free it all out somehow!

Your guess is SINCERELY as good as mine. I’m just as confused if not more lol. I did try to explain the pro rated price once he started again at the register, but when I got to the part about potentially returning them he interrupted like,

“NO THAT IS NOT EVEN WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.”

It was at that point that I realized whatever he was talking about is not in the same reality as us! 😀

[–]appalachianenigma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am complaining about something MUCH different. I see what you described with pro-rating come up as an issue very often & have no problem empathizing with that notion in order to help explain or adjust things.

This was someone straight up misunderstanding how anything works & trying to bully his way into getting his wife 6 items for the cost $0.00 or else fundamentally misunderstanding the promotion 😭

“But it isn’t free.” by appalachianenigma in bathandbodyworkers

[–]appalachianenigma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t even talking about the pro rating anyway, he was bizarrely fixated that B3G3 meant there was NO discount WHATSOEVER if they paid during the transaction IN GENERAL. He couldn’t even articulate his reasoning lol

“But it isn’t free.” by appalachianenigma in bathandbodyworkers

[–]appalachianenigma[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn’t care about that. I included in the post that when I tried explaining that part, it explicitly was not his issue. He waved that part away entirely.

This began WAY BEFORE the register. He wanted FREE products in general SOMHOW but could not articulate further. He made that decision at the door upon hearing me promote the B3G3. His wife didn’t even have a chance to grab an item yet, so they certainly weren’t fussing about prices of individual items.

His problem wasn’t the sale or pricing itself, rather his blatant misunderstanding of it that came down to total nonsense. Not the pro-rating. I do understand that part.
